Prayers that they find her safe and sound. She had her hearing aide out. Is a hearing aide removed for sleeping? I really don't know.

I guess you would take it out, especially as she could still hear in one ear. I would have thought if she went somewhere of her own accord she would have taken it IMO.onehope wrote:Prayers that they find her safe and sound. She had her hearing aide out. Federal investigators have joined the search for a missing girl who disappeared from her southern Connecticut home. The FBI, local and state police resumed their search for the
12-year-old, Isabella Oleschuk, on Monday following an intensive effort
the previous night involving helicopters and K-9 units.
According to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children,
Oleschuk was last seen at her home in the town of Orange in New Haven
County in the morning of Sunday. The blonde and blue-eyed girl was
wearing a light blue jacket and rain boots. Local reports
describe the teen as the daughter of an Allingtown firefighter. She is
deaf in one ear and does not have her hearing aid. A seventh
grader at the Amity Middle School, Oleschuk may have left her home
without her parents knowing Saturday night. Authorities are also
exploring the possibility that she ran away.

Re: ISABELLA OLESCHUCK - 12 yo - Orange (W of New Haven) CT
ORANGE -- Almost 100 cadets representing more than 30 local police
departments combed woods and marshes Monday afternoon looking for a
missing 12 year-old girl.
Firefighters and search and rescue units from area towns also joined the search for Isabella Oleschuk, a seventh-grader at Amity Regional Middle School who has been missing since Saturday.
A state police dive team entered a pond off of Maplewood Road, not
far from the girl's home, in an effort to find any signs of her.
Bloodhounds tried to track her scent through the dampness.
The girl is deaf in one ear and did not take her hearing aid with her, said Assistant Orange Police Chief Edward Koether. Local officers were investigating a report of a young male and female walking near a pond on the Racebrook School grounds, he said.
The FBI and state police were providing the local department
extensive support and are "using every available resource possible,''
Koether said.
A press briefing has been scheduled for 4:45 p.m.
The level and intensity of the search indicated that police do not
consider the case a routine one involving a runaway teen, although they
refused to say whether foul play is suspected in the
girl's disappearance.
Police on ATVs and in Jeeps also aided in the search, and a school
bus brought firefighters from area towns in thigh-high rubber boots to
wade into the marsh.
The police recruits lined up single file and marched along the
shoulder of Derby Avenue from the staging area at Temple Emanuel and in
front of the girl's home at 170 Derby Ave. before fanning out to conduct
the "grid and line" search.
"It's shocking to the teachers, the administration, the students in the school," said Amity Regional Superintendent John Brady.
"She's a very good student, she made the honor roll. She's not the type
of student you would expect to be in any trouble. We've never had any
trouble with her.
"The students are nervous, they are concerned, they know one of their
own is missing and they don't know why. There's fear amongst the
students at this point," Brady said.

Here is his statement:
At about 8:18 a.m. the police department received a call from the parents that their 12-year-old daughter, Isabella, was missing from the home. Police were sent to the home and did a brief search of the house and began notifying area patrols and area towns that we had a missing 12-year-old.
The Lieutenant on duty contacted the CT state police, who sent their K-9 Patrol to search the area. The area behind the home is a wooded area, which was searched with k-9s and a blood hound not long after that.
The state police search and rescue team is out now with their K-9 also searching the area. We've solicited the help of the area fire department the West Shore Fire Department from West Haven and our own CERT team who are currently doing searches.
We've also been in contact with the FBI and they are speaking with our detectives now.
We don't have any indication of foul play, but we are covering every angle.
We've been on the scene since early this morning and will continue to search until we come to some kind of a resolution.
Koether acknowledged that the girl may have a hard time hearing rescuers calling her name. (Sources said she left her house without her hearing aid)
Police and other rescue workers are searching every business, wooded area and other possible place where she could be.

Search for Missing 12-Year-Old Girl Expands
Isabella Oleschuck, 12, of 170 Derby Ave. in Orange, was reported missing Sunday.
Connecticut State Police
Candle light vigil tonight for missing 12-year-old Isabella Oleschuk of Orange.
Residents and emergency officials from around the state have put
their lives on hold to launch a massive search for a 12-year-old girl
who went missing Sunday morning.
Police dogs have scoured the woods behind Isabella Oleschuk’s home in
Orange, Conn., while helicopters circled above using infrared
technology to aid in the search. Members of the town’s Community
Emergency Response Team (CERT) joined police officers and firefighters
in what has become an all-out effort to find the girl.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation’s Child Abduction Rapid
Deployment (CARD) team arrived in town late yesterday afternoon to offer
its expertise to the search. Another specialized organization, the
National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, is also lending a
hand.
The center’s Team Adam, a network of retired law enforcement
personnel who each bring highly specialized training and knowledge, have
been deployed to Orange.
“We’re doing everything we can to support the effort,” says the center’s president, Ernie Allen.
To this end, the organization is working with local, state and
federal authorities and helping to disseminate the missing child poster
that state police created.
And time is of the essence right now, Allen says.
“This is a key moment in the search for Isabella,” Allen says. “Time is the enemy in these kind of cases.”
That’s because 90 percent of missing children cases are resolved within the first 24 hours. It is now just beyond that mark.
Indeed, concerns about Oleschuk’s welfare increase with each passing
moment. Temperatures dipped into the low 30s last night and a mixture of
rain and snow is falling today. Emergency officials also fear that she
may not be able to hear them, as she is deaf in one ear and is without
her hearing aid.
Oleschuk was last seen at her home in Orange at 170 Derby Ave. She
was wearing a light blue jacket, brown felt hooded cape and black rain
boots. She is a white female, 5-feet, 4-inches tall, about 120 pounds
with blues eyes and shoulder length blonde hair.
Allen has been briefed on the case and he says there’s no history or indication of a runaway situation here.
“At this point, the focus is on looking at people who had access to her,” he says.
In a development announced this afternoon, police are seeking to
speak with two unidentified youngsters who were reportedly in the area
where Oleschuk was last seen.
Allen, citing statistics from the most recent study, reports that
approximately 800,000 children are reported missing in the U.S. each
year. Of those, about 58,000 are taken by non-family members.
“The good news,” he says, “is that 99 percent plus come home.”
And that’s just what everyone involved is hoping for – a happy ending.
To show their support, community members are hosting a candle light
vigil tonight, March 21. The vigil will take place at Orange
Congregational Church, 205 Meeting House Lane, at 5:30 p.m.

The search for a 13-year-old girl from Orange enters its third day Tuesday with no clues to where she has gone. Isabella
Oleschuk was reported missing Sunday morning. "We are not going to stop
until we find Isabella," Orange Police Chief Robert Gagne said
yesterday. A candlelight vigil was held Monday night at the
Orange Congregational Church, where people came to pray for the teen's
safe return. Local
and state police, along with the FBI and police cadets have been
searching for the girl. They've used canine units, planes and
helicopters in the search effort. Teams searched the woods behind her
house and knocked on doors to talk with people to see if anyone had seen
the girl. Oleschuk is a white female, 5'4", about 120 lbs., with
blue eyes and shoulder length blonde hair. She is also deaf in one ear,
and she does not have her hearing aid. Police said she may be wearing a light blue jacket, brown felt hooded cape, and black rain boots. The
biggest lead in the case so far has been a tip from a jogger who reported seeing a young couple holding hands early Sunday morning by a
school. They did not look to be in distress, and while the girl fit
Isabella's description police do not know if it was her. "We just
want to talk to that couple, whomever they may be, so we can rule out
whether or not it is related to this case," said Gagne. If you have any information on the whereabouts of Oleschuk you're asked to call Orange police at 203-891-2130.

12-Year-Old Isabella Oleschuk Missing; Police Issue Silver Alert
March 22nd, 2011 at 6:08 pm
Isabella Olschuk was last seen on Saturday night at her parent's home in Connecticut
A partially deaf 12-year-old girl in Orange, Conn., has gone missing and the FBI have joined local police in searching for her.
Isabella Oleschuk was last seen on Saturday night at home. Her hearing aid was left behind, which has left those looking for her concerned that she might not be able to hear rescuers calling out her name as they comb the woods with dogs, knock on doors and search by air.
Isabella was reported missing early Sunday morning by her parents. A Silver Alert has been issued, which indicates authorities are characterizing her disappearance as “mysterious,” but not necessarily a kidnapping. (Amber Alerts are issued when an abduction is suspected.)
Fliers posted around her hometown say she is an “endangered runaway.”
However, some connected to the family say they feel she has been taken.
The FBI, fire and police departments, State Police, police cadets have spread out over the town of less than 14,000 people to search for her.
One person is said to have spotted a couple about a mile from Isabella’s home on Sunday morning and said the female looked like Isabella, and she was accompanied by a young male. The police chief in Orange said they were holding hands and there “didn’t appear to be any kind of distress.”
A prayer vigil was held for her at her family’s church on Monday.
Isabella is described as 5’4” and 120 pounds with blonde hair and blue eyes. She was last seen wearing a light blue jacket and black rain
books. Anyone with any information is asked to called Orange Police at (203) 891-2130.

Police in Orange, CT announced this morning that a missing 13-year-old girl, Isabella Oleschuk,
has been found safe. According to officials, Oleschuk was “with a
friend and she is okay.” The partially deaf girl had been missing since

Crews had been searching in swampy areas around Oleschuk’s home and
her picture was posted on the website for the National Center for
Missing and Exploited Children. Yesterday a jacket and socks were found
near Oleschuk’s school, but determined not to be hers. It’s unclear
right now whether or not Oleschuk was attempting to run away from home.

Re: ISABELLA OLESCHUCK - 12 yo - Orange (W of New Haven) CT
Isabella Oleschuk, the 13-year-old Orange girl who had been missing
since Sunday morning, was found Wednesday morning just minutes before
her parents were scheduled to address the media for the first time.
Police Chief Robert Gagne, scheduled to deliver opening remarks at a press conference that had been scheduled Tuesday, walked up to the podium at the First Congregational Church at about 11:10 a.m. and made a dramatic, unexpected announcement:
"I'm thrilled to announce to you that she has been found and safe,"
he said. "She did leave home. She was with a friend and is OK."
Gagne said Isabella -- a seventh-grader at Amity Regional Middle School
-- had been found just minutes before the press conference was
scheduled to begin. Police said she was with a friend. Orange police,
FBI and paramedics were on their way to check on her.
WTNH-News 8 is reporting that Isabella was found in a barn, apparently hiding. She was brought to Yale-New Haven Hospital for evaluation.
The Orange police have scheduled a 12:30 p.m. press conference to reveal more details.
Isabella's parents -- Beth and Roman Oleschuk -- said their daughter
may have slipped out of their home at 170 Derby Ave. on Saturday night
without their knowledge. She is deaf in one ear and did not have her
hearing aid, police had said. Since then, state and local police and
FBI, as well as hundreds of volunteers, had been combing wooded areas
near her home, looking for the missing teen without success.
When the announcement was made by Gagne, a cheer went up in the room,
and friends and family members began to cry almost immediately after.
At 11:25 a.m., church bells rang in celebration.
Jeff Dwyer, a deacon at First Congregational Church, was elated.
"God is good," he said. "This is outstanding news."
Deputy pastor Lee Ireland emphasized efforts to combat bullying, which some have speculated caused Isabella to run away.
"If you have children, go home and hug them," Ireland said. "If you
know your child has been bullied, then intervene. If in fact that is
what this case is about, it's important that you speak to your children
and help them."
"The school is jubilant," said Amity regional superintendent John Brady
when reached at his office in Woodbridge on Wednesday afternoon. "The
students were told via closed-circuit TV by the principal. Cheers rang
out throughout the building. We're all eager for Isabella. This is the
news we were hoping for."
The extensive search was kicked off Sunday night after Isabella's
parents reported to police that she had been missing since early that
morning.
On Monday, a jogger reported seeing a young couple early Sunday near the pond at Racebrook School, and police were following up on that lead, Gagne said on Monday.
"The two were holding hands and there did not appear to be any
distress, but obviously we'd like to identify that couple," Gagne said
Monday. "We've sent email through the school system to parents asking
them to speak to their kids about it."
The region-wide search led by the Orange police and FBI went on for
four days using helicopters, ATVs, dogs, dive teams and over 200 people.
On Monday the searchers combed through marshes, woods and streams
looking for Isabella. A state police dive team entered a pond off
Maplewood Road, not far from the girl's home, in an effort to find any
signs of her. Bloodhounds tried to track her scent through the dampness.
A vigil was held at Orange First Congregational Church Monday night
and local leaders said the search would continue until the girl was
located.
Tuesday afternoon, the search continued, this time in the heavily
wooded, 400-acre Racebrook Tract off Racebrook Road, not far from
Isabella's Derby Avenue home. Besides police, dozens of firefighters and
EMS personnel from a number of communities -- including Derby, Shelton,
Seymour, Monroe, and Beacon Falls -- scoured the area.
A law enforcement official involved in the case said it was a "routine grid" search.
Roman Oleschuk is a volunteer firefigher in West Haven and members of
his department and other volunteers from the town helped out in the
search starting on Sunday.
Recruits from the Municipal Police Academy in Meriden joined in the search on Monday with over 100 cadets from 30 local police departments chipping in.
Authorities issued a Silver Alert for Isabella on Tuesday. It meant
her disappearance is "mysterious," said a law enforcement official
involved in the case, compared to an Amber Alert, which is issued when
there is a fear the child had been abducted. A state police poster
called Isabella an "endangered runaway."

Re: ISABELLA OLESCHUCK - 12 yo - Orange (W of New Haven) CT
The Orange police department spent more than $25,000 in police overtime
costs in a four-day search for a 13-year-old girl who ran away from
home.
Assistant Police Chief Edward Koether disclosed the costs in a
response to a Freedom of Information request by the New Haven Register
for costs incurred by the department in its search for Isabella
Oleschuk.
Isabella ran away from home March 20 and was found last Wednesday in
an abandoned farm stand. The seventh-grader was unharmed and unaware
that so many people were looking for her.
First Selectman James Zeoli says the town will pick up the bill for
the search, defending the expenditure by saying there can be no price
placed on a child's life.
Hundreds of people volunteered their time to help search.
