Police search for missing 3-year-old girl last seen with biological father

Authorities are searching for a missing 3-year-old Portland girl thought to have
been abducted by her biological father, the Portland Police Bureau
announced Tuesday.

Witnesses reported Victoriya Gornichar was taken from her
home, in the 10000 block of Northeast Beech Street, early Monday by 25-year-old
Aleksandr Gornichar, said Lt. Kelli Sheffer, a bureau spokeswoman.

Investigators learned that a valid restraining order from Multnomah County Circuit
Court prevented Aleksandr Gornichar from seeing the child and her mother

The case was not been classified as an Amber Alert, Sheffer said.

Victoriya is described as about 3-feet tall and 30 pounds, with curly,
dark-blonde hair and blue eyes. She is missing some upper front teeth.
She was last seen wearing purple and green Tinkerbell pajamas.



Aleksandr Gornichar is about 5-feet-8 and 220 pounds. He has short brown hair,
brown eyes, and was last seen wearing a black jacket and dark blue jeans.

The two might be traveling in a dark green, 1995 BMW 740i sedan with Oregon license plates.

Anyone who knows where the pair might be is asked to call 9-1-1. Anyone with
additional information is asked to call Detective Mike Weinstein at 503-823-0446.

Police find missing 3-year-old Portland girl last seen with biological father





A 3-year-old Portland girl thought to have been abducted by her biological father on Monday has been returned home safe, the Portland Police Bureau announced Wednesday.

Early this morning, police arrested 25-year-old Aleksandr Aleksandrovich Yarovoy near a home in the Vancouver area. After a search, they found his 3-year-old daughter Victoriya Gornichar unharmed inside the home.

She has been reunited with her mother, said Lt. Kelli Sheffer, a Portland Police Bureau spokeswoman.

Yarovoy was booked into Clark County Jail for violating a restraining order but detectives will be consulting with the Multnomah County District Attorney for additional charges, Sheffer said.

Witnesses reported Yarovoy took little Victoriya from her home, in the 10000 block of Northeast Beech Street, early Monday.


Investigators learned that a valid restraining order from Multnomah County Circuit Court prevented him from seeing the child and her mother.

The case was not classified as an Amber Alert because authorities did not have the license plate number of the car Yarovoy allegedly drove off in with the child, Sheffer said.
