George in suicide threat
From the Orlando Sentinel===
George Anthony -- father of murder suspect Casey Anthony -- was found safe this morning at a Daytona Beach motel after he went missing for several hours Thursday.
Brad Conway, the attorney for George and Cindy Anthony, told TV
reporters this morning that George Anthony failed to show up to a
meeting about 4 p.m. Thursday.
Conway said that the Orange County Sheriff's Office
was called Thursday night and immediately began a search. Using GPS
technology, authorities were able to find Anthony by tracking his cell
phone, Conway said.
Anthony was reportedly taken into custody under the Baker Act, which
allows authorities to hold someone at a mental-health facility for up
to 72 hours while they are evaluated by physicians.
WKMG Channel 6 reported that police found an unfinished suicide note.
"George is OK. Thank God," Conway told reporters at about 3 a.m.,
adding that if not for the efforts of the Orange County Sheriff's
Office, Daytona Beach police department and Volusia Sheriff's Office "I
don't know what the outcome would have been."
The remains of George Anthony's granddaughter Caylee Marie Anthony
were discovered in December not far from the family home. The toddler
was reported missing in July. She was 2 years old when last seen in
June.
Daytona Beach Police Chief Mike Chitwood told Channel 6 that police
there searched the city and found Anthony's car at a motel. Anthony was
taken to Halifax Medical Center, Chitwood said.
