Two Louisville sisters charged with letting their children be abused have pleaded not guilty.
Janet and Jeanette Allen were indicted late last month on complicity to criminal child abuse.
Jeanette's son Christopher was killed in 2009 and authorities say Janet's son Wyatt was also abused.
Their sister Nereida Allen and her ex-boyfriend Joshua Peacher were sentenced earlier this month in Christopher's death.
The women are expected back in court in June and remain out of jail.

In court, attorneys for the Commonwealth of Kentucky, Joshua Peacher
and Nereida Allen made their final pleas to the jury. After two hours
of deliberation, the jury came back with their recommendations for the
pair convicted of beating and killing Allen’s nephew, 2-year-old
Christopher Allen. For Peacher, the jury recommended 50 years in prison
for murder, 20 for assault, 10 for criminal abuse and 10 more for the
abuse of Christopher’s half-brother, Wyatt. All are to be served
consecutively.

For Allen, the jury decided she should spend 25 years in prison
for murder, 12 for assault and 10 for criminal abuse. All are also to be
served consecutively.

Prosecutor Jon Heck said he’s satisfied with the jury’s decision.
“This is a very substantial verdict and sentence on obviously a very
brutal case,” Heck said. Now it’s up to the judge to make the final
decision on the fate of both Peacher and Allen. A final sentencing date
is set for March 30. Heck said the judge is likely to follow the jury’s
recommendations.

Both Peacher and Allen would be eligible for parole after 20 years
in prison, but they would still have to serve at least 85-percent of
the sentences for each of the other convictions.
