ORLANDO, Fla. -- Judge Belvin Perry ruled Tuesday that the prosecution in the Casey Anthony case can present several pieces of controversial evidence.
RULINGS: Heart Sticker | Hair Band | Cadaver Dog
VIDEO: Evidence Allowed
Anthony's defense team had requested that witnesses for the prosecution be precluded from testifying about several matters.
In an order issued Tuesday afternoon, Perry ruled that an FBI analyst could testify about heart-shaped sticker residue she observed on a piece of duct tape found on Caylee Anthony's skull but that was never photographed and she said later disappeared.
A K-9 handler will also be allowed to testify about his cadaver dog signaling on the trunk of Anthony's car, indicating there had been a body in the vehicle as well as in the Anthony family home's back yard. Anthony's defense team argued that dogs can confuse the smell of a body with that of hair, blood or fingernails, but Perry said the jury will ultimately decide the dogs' accuracy.
Finally, the state can present evidence that a strand of hair found in Anthony's car came from a decomposing body. The state's expert said the hair shows "post-mortem banding." Defense experts claim that a hair from a living person can sometimes have the same qualities.
