One year on from his disappearance, police have renewed an appeal for information about a 19-year-old Nelson student.
Police said today they had not given up hope of finding Leo
Lipp-Neighbours who had not been seen since January 24, 2010, last year.
Mr Lipp-Neighbours was last seen at 4am on January 24 when he left his
Watson St flat after earlier being with friends at the Phat Club in
central Nelson.
His distinctive orange 1987 Toyota Corolla station wagon, registration NQ7258, has also never been found.
"The file is still open. We have investigated numerous sightings of a
vehicle similar to Leo's in Marlborough around North Bank Road and Rai
Saddle," Detective Sergeant Ian Langridge said today.
"Unfortunately we still haven't been able to definitely establish if those sightings were Leo or another person."
Mr Langridge said that police met with Mr Lipp-Neighbours' family today, who want to know what happened to their son.

Police hope Crimestoppers reward offer will help missing person inquiry

Nelson Police investigating the disappearance of Leo Lipp-Neighbours hope today’s announcement of a new Crimestoppers reward offer will help the missing person’s inquiry.

Detective Sergeant Mark Kaveney, Nelson CIB, said Leo was last seen at an address in Nelson at 4am on Sunday, 24 January 2010.

Leo and his Toyota Corolla Station Wagon, registration NQ7258, which was coloured bright orange, have not been seen or heard from since. Leo was 19-years-old when he went missing. He’s European, 183cm in height, and of slim build, with blue eyes.

Detective Sergeant Kaveney said Leo's disappearance is totally out of character, and his family desperately want their son returned to them.

“Over the last year police have received information from the public throughout New Zealand about possible sightings of Leo and his vehicle,” Detective Sergeant Kaveney said. “All details have been investigated but Leo and his car have not been found.”

Crimestoppers is offering $50,000 for information leading to the location of Leo and his vehicle.
