A 16-year-old Anderson teen has been missing for nearly three days
and Police say there are no signs that he would even want to run away. Jeremy
Atkins’ parents posted flyers around the city and high school Thursday
and now they're begging for the public’s help. Police say there are no
signs that he’d want to run away, he wasn't bullied or upset, and he
didn’t leave a note. "I’m worried if he’s safe, if he’s warm, is he’s eaten," said his mother Sherry Everett.

Adkins mom and step-father posted flyers of their teenage son around the city and at Anderson High School. "I
got up at 6 o’clock like every morning to wake him up, but he wasn't in
his bed, I don’t know why, no reason, no clue," said Everett. Adkins
doesn’t have a driver’s license or cell phone. His family says he’s
quiet, likes to read the newspaper, and doesn’t have a ton of friends at
school or a girlfriend. Police say the situation is strange.
There was no sign of forced entry to his room and Adkins took no extra
clothes, only his school ID, and wallet with a little cash. "No
clue, no hint of where he might be or who he might be with since that
time frame and frankly that worries us a little bit. We don't suspect
foul play at this point," said Anderson Police spokesman Mitch Carroll. Meanwhile, friends at Anderson high school are shocked. "He’s
the last person we would probably expect to runaway. He was real nice,
he read a lot of books, comics and regular stuff, played a lot of video
games," Daniel Henderson said. None of the tips police tried
worked out. They even checked a nearby wooded area. Adkins’ parents
wonder if he went to see family in Texas or his birth father in New
Hampshire, but their efforts to track him at either of those locations
came up empty. "It's baffling, I don’t know what to think, what to do," his mother said. Police ask that anyone with information about where Atkins might be call Crimestoppers at 765-649-8310.

ANDERSON, Ind. —
Missing Anderson student Jeremy Adkins was found safe Saturday morning near Muncie.

His uncle Scott Maier said the details of Adkins whereabouts since his
disappearance Monday are unknown. Anderson Police are interviewing
people and investigating.

“He’s safe,” Maier said. “That’s the main thing. I’ve physically seen him.”

Anderson Police Department Detective Mitch Carroll confirmed that Adkins had been found.

“I’ve received numerous phone calls that Jeremy was found somewhere near Muncie where his grandfather lives,” Carroll said.

Because Carroll is out of town, he did not have additional details.

Adkins is currently at Anderson Police Department where he is being questioned.

“I appreciate everyone in Anderson,” Maier said as he choked up. “We
live our lives with blinders on and people took them off. I am so
grateful.
