Illegal immigrant in Mesa held in death of fiancee's daughter
A Mesa man is being held without bond in a Maricopa County Jail in connection with the death last week of his fiancee’s 4-year-old daughter.
Jose Gonzalez-Dominguez said the girl fell by the swimming pool at the apartment complex where they lived, but according to an autopsy report from the Maricopa County Medical Examiner’s Office she died of blunt force trauma to the head and body, and Mesa police say the pool was closed.
Gonzalez-Dominguez, an illegal immigrant from Mexico, was arrested Monday on suspicion of child abuse and failure to report it in connection with the girl’s death and failing to report the incident, three days after the girl, Anays Carimbocas, was pronounced dead at a local hospital. Police say the charge likely will be upgraded to murder.
Shortly after 9 p.m. on Friday, police responded to a 911 call at the complex after the girl’s mother returned home from work and discovered her looking pale and breathing shallowly. Both the girl’s mother and Gonzalez-Dominguez waited for at least 30 minutes to call 911, according to information from police.
Gonzalez-Dominguez is denying he did anything to hurt the girl, said Detective Steve Berry, a Mesa police spokesman.
The other three children who lived in the house now are in the care of Child Protective Services.

Another POS mother. Another POS boyfriend. I need to get a rubber stamp.
Why, why, why. Will someone please tell me why these women are OK with men abusing their children? Torturing their children? Murdering their children? I can't wrap my brain around it.

Re: ANAYS CARIMBOCAS - 4 yo (2011)/ Convicted: Mother; Crystal Carimbocas, Charged: Jose Gonzalez Dominguez - Mesa AZ
Mesa police arrested a Mexico City man accused
of beating his fiancé's 4-year-old daughter, who died five hours later
while en route to the hospital early Saturday.
Jose Luis Gonzalez-Dominguez, 21, was booked Monday into the Maricopa
County jail on a charge of failing to render aid resulting in death,
Mesa police spokesman Detective Steve Berry said Wednesday.
An autopsy revealed Anays Chenal Carimbocas, 4, suffered skull
fractures, a lacerated liver, contusion to the pancreas, torn blood
vessels and numerous bruises. Gonzalez-Dominguez told investigators the
child injured herself from a fall at their apartment complex pool, but a
medical examiner's report ruled the death a homicide and stated the
injuries couldn't have resulted from a fall, a police report states.
Berry said a homicide charge against Gonzalez-Dominguez will likely be forwarded to the County Attorney's Office by Friday.
Anays' mother waited nearly 90 minutes after returning home from work
to call 911 at 1:11 a.m. and report that the child's breathing was
shallow, a court document states.
Mesa police and EMS crews responded to an apartment at 655 S. Mesa
Drive, and Anays was pronounced dead while en route to Cardon Children's
Medical Center.
"The ER doctors take a look at her and she's got a lot of bruises on
her body and it looks suspicious, so they notified officers," Berry
said.
An autopsy determined that Anays died from blunt-force trauma. A
medical examiner found skull fractures and other injuries inconsistent
with what Gonzalez-Dominquez was telling investigators, police said.
Gonzalez-Dominguez told investigators he took Anays and her three
siblings - a 4-month-old, 6-year-old and 8-year-old - to the community
pool and returned about 6 p.m. However, the apartment manager told
investigators surveillance video taken at the pool also didn't show
Gonzalez-Dominguez and the children there.
"The boyfriend made the claim that they were at the pool all day and
(Anays) fell down and got hurt," Berry said. "But it appears the pool
was closed at the complex."
Anays complained of back pain so Gonzalez-Dominguez gave the child
medication from his mother, who also lives in the complex, court
documents state.
He told investigators the child was struggling to breath about 8 p.m., but he didn't call for help.
About an hour later, "Jose was still concerned so he gave Anays
rescue breaths by breathing from his mouth into her mouth," court
documents state.
Gonzalez-Dominguez contacted the child's mother, who returned home from work about 11:30 p.m.
The mother "carried Anays to the bedroom then noticed Anays was very
weak, pale and had shallow breathing," court document state. "After
approximately 20-30 minutes, she decided to call 911."
"Neighbors stated they heard some kids yelling, screaming and crying,
but we are trying to determine a timeframe for when that was," Berry
said.
Gonzalez-Dominguez admitted to police he is a Mexican national and has been living in the U.S. illegally for about six years.
Neither he nor the child's mother have been cooperative with
investigators, Berry said. The other three children have since been
placed into custody of Child Protective Services.

doctors called a severe beating is now the second person to be
arrested and charged in connection with the child's death.
Mesa police say that Crystal Carimbocas, 27, who was indicted on
child abuse-related charges on Tuesday, knew her fiancee, Jose
Gonzalez-Dominguez, had beaten her four children, ranging in age
from 4 to 8, in the past, and did nothing about it. Carimbocas was
arrested last Friday.

work. He told police Anays fell at the swimming pool of their
apartment complex, but doctors said her injuries were not

abuse on May 16 in connection with the girl's injuries that
included a fractured skull, a lacerated liver and bruises on her
head and chest, according to police. The Maricopa County Medical

What wonderful news. I was upset that she had not been arrested.
How can a woman carry a baby in her body for 9 months and not have a connection and love so strong that would withstand anything?
The women we read about daily just don't have that connection. All they care about is their prick of the moment. Even if the prick wants to torture, abuse, rape, murder their babies, oh well, so what?
These mothers are as guilty as their prick of the moment. IMO.

Death Penalty Sought in Girl's Murder
Updated: Wednesday, 10 Aug 2011, 12:21 PM MST
PHOENIX - The Maricopa County Attorney is seeking the death penalty against a Mesa man in the murder of a 4-year-old girl.
Jose Gonzalez-Dominguez and Crystal Carimbocas, the victim’s mother, each face counts of first-degree murder and child abuse.
Police say the woman called 9-1-1 three months ago to report her daughter having trouble breathing.
Officers and paramedics found Anays "Annie" Carimbocas unresponsive, lying on a bathroom sink in her apartment.
She died at the hospital.
The medical examiner determined her death was caused by blunt force trauma.
"The decision to seek the death penalty is the most serious decision any County Attorney can make," Bill Montgomery said in a statement.
"In any given case, I weigh the appropriateness of the death penalty and then determine whether the death penalty is a just punishment for the crime committed. In this case, if the State successfully proves beyond a reasonable doubt that the defendant is guilty as charged, the jury will then have the duty to consider imposition of the death penalty.”
The couple is awaiting trial.

PHOENIX - A Mesa woman has been convicted of first-degree murder in the 2011 death of her 4-year-old daughter.
Maricopa County prosecutors say jurors also found 30-year-old Crystal Carimbocas guilty Wednesday on two counts of child abuse.
She's scheduled to be sentenced Sept. 18.
Authorities say Anays Chenal Carimbocas was taken to a Mesa hospital in May 2011 with fatal injuries that her mother's boyfriend said incurred when the girl fell into an apartment complex's pool.
Prosecutors say the pool was closed for renovation on the day of the incident.
They also say an autopsy revealed injuries that occurred long before the day of the girl's death including skull fractures, a lacerated liver, broken ribs and numerous bruises.
Crystal Carimbocas and her 24-year-old boyfriend, Jose Gonzalez-Dominguez, were tried separately in the case.
