CLEARWATER, Fla. -- Without giving an explanation of a "private matter" that abruptly ended Wednesday's proceeding in the Casey Anthony murder case, jury selection resumed on day 10 as the judge looks to seat a jury of 12.

As of the end of court proceedings on Thursday, there were 16 potential jurors in the pool. Judge Belvin Perry had previously said that once 12 jurors were chosen by the state and defense, he would swear them in and then select alternate jurors, but that plan has now changed.

Perry brought in another panel of 30 potential jurors to begin screening as alternates Thursday afternoon. Seven potential jurors remain in that new pool and four remain from the original pool. Those 11 still need to be questioned by attorneys regarding their opinions on the death penalty and how much they know about the case.

The 16 jurors who have made it through questioning can still be back stricken by either side. Both the state and the defense had 10 strikes at the beginning of jury selection, but the defense has only one remaining and the state has three.
