Family members and law enforcement authorities are searching for a 16-year-old girl
who has been missing for seven days.
Chassie Simon was last seen near Mimi’s Treasure Box in Iowa, La., her
biological mother Joleen Lee said. Simon was with her adoptive mother at
the time of her disappearance and apparently “vanished,” Lee said.

Lee
said several family members and friends have organized search parties
and are now looking for Simon. It remains unclear whether she
voluntarily ran away from the store.Lee said the family
has been told that Simon was spotted on North Louise Street in Jennings
on Monday. She may also have been spotted in Roanoke, La., but it is
unclear when that possible sighting took place.Iowa Chief
of Police Keith Vincent said it is the department's policy not to issue
press releases or statements on runaways. Sgt. James Anderson, spokesman
for Louisiana State Police Troop D, confirmed that LSP authorities are
actively assisting in the search for Simon. Simon was last
seen wearing a green shirt, blue jeans, white socks and white shoes.
Anyone with information on her location is asked to contact their local
law enforcement agency immediately.

The family of a 16-year-old girl missing for more than a week says a
Family Dollar employee in Jennings may have seen Chassie Simon.The
teen's last known location was June 2 at Mimi's Treasure Box, a thrift
store in Iowa, La. It remains unclear whether she voluntarily ran away.
Simon was with her adoptive mother at the time of her disappearance, but
family members said the two were not having any problems.Joleen
Lee, Simon's biological mother, said Friday the family was focusing on a
Family Dollar store in Jennings, about 25 miles east of Iowa. Lee said
an employee has told the family she believes she saw Simon purchasing a
phone and a phone card. However, the employee was not sure when the
possible sighting took place.Lee
said she hoped police would soon evaluate surveillance video from the
store to determine if the girl was Simon, and, if so, when she made the
purchases and what direction she may have been traveling.In
an eerie coincidence, the store is the same place where Brittney Ann
Gary, 17, was last seen in November 2008. Gary also was purchasing
minutes for a cell phone.Her body was found by a family search party about two weeks later in Jefferson Davis Parish.Police have previously linked Gary's murder to the deaths of seven other Jeff Davis Parish women.Despite the similarities, there is no immediate indication that Simon's disappearance is connected to the unsolved homicides.Simon also may have been seen on North Louise Street in Jennings on Monday, Lee said.Jennings
Chief of Police Todd D'Albor was attending a funeral Friday afternoon
and was unavailable for comment. On Thursday, Iowa Chief of Police Keith
Vincent indicated police were treating Simon's disappearance as a

State Police detectives are "actively assisting" in the search for
Simon, said Sgt. James Anderson, spokesman for Louisiana State Police
Troop D."We're
still searching and we're going to keep searching," Lee said of the
family's efforts. "We're riding around town, talking to people, looking
around to see if we see anything or see her. I'm worried because we
don't know where she was going."Simon

According to the Police Dept, there are no current missing person notices so she has been located safe.
