ABIGAIL ESTRADA - 13 yo (2007) - Harlingen (Rio Grande Valley; nr. MX border) TX
HARLINGEN - Police have released a picture of what a Harlingen teen that has been missing for four years may look like now.
Investigators
are no closer to finding Abigail Estrada. She was last seen at her
mother's apartment complex. That was four years ago. She was 13.
"She was young, and I’m sure the family is very concerned," says Harlingen police Sgt. John Parrish.
CHANNEL
5 NEWS has talked to Estrada's family several times over the years and
returned Wednesday to the place where we last interviewed the family,
the place Estrada went missing on June 16, 2007.
With Abigail’s picture in hand, we knocked on door after door. The family has moved. Nobody we talked to knows the missing girl.
"Because
we have not located Abigail, we do not have a body. We do not have a
weapon. At this point, there are several things we are looking at," says
Parrish.
Parrish says investigators haven't stopped looking for
answers. Police believe there are people out there with information that
could solve this case.
"Evidence in this case, witness testimony and so forth leads us to suspect foul play," says Parrish.
Estrada
was last seen with her boyfriend, Ruben Torres. He was 16 at the time.
After Estrada went missing, Torres did, too. Police eventually tracked
him down at an international bridge.
"Ruben was charged with
capital murder. Those charges were later dismissed by the DA's office
pending further investigation," says Parrish.
Police won't say
whether Torres is still a suspect. Investigators say they do have
suspects in mind. They need anyone who knows anything to come forward.
Abigail Estrada would be 17 years old now. Anyone with information is asked to call Harlingen Crime Stoppers at 956-425-8477.

Re: ABIGAIL ESTRADA - 13 yo (2007) - Harlingen (Rio Grande Valley; nr. MX border) TX
Thursday marks four years since 14-year-old Abigail Estrada went missing.
Back in 2007, she left her Harlingen apartment with her boyfriend Ruben Torres but never returned.
Torres was named the prime suspect in her disappearance but later released.
Harlingen
police Lt. Myriam Anderson tells Action 4 News that detectives continue
receiving tips and remain in contact with the family.
On Thursday
Action 4 news spoke with her aunt over the phone, who believes her
niece may be in Mexico and has hope that she is still alive.
Abigail's aunt Laura Estrada believes Torres may have more information on what happened to her niece.
"He
was the last person seen with Abigail and even if he did not commit a
crime regarding Abigail, I wish that he would come forward. She was his
girlfriend and if he knows something, I hope he would find it in his
heart to come forward," said Estrada.
For now, the family is taking it day by day.
Estrada said she is not satisfied with the job police are doing.
Harlingen police said the case remains active.
"Abigail
we love you. We're waiting for you to come home and we hope that you
come home someday soon. You're always in our thoughts and in our
hearts," said Estrada.
Abigail's aunt hopes her niece can find the help she needs, to make it home.
If you have any information that may help solve this case, call Harlingen Crime Stoppers at (956) 425-TIPS.
