Chief Judge Belvin Perry has just suspended the proceedings indefinitely to give the Casey Anthony's defense time to question state rebuttal witnesses.
"We'll be in recess subject to call," Perry told the attorneys. "Be prepared to be here late this evening."
He also told the attorneys to expect to work through the holiday weekend. He noted that the jurors remains sequestered and "these folks are ready to return to their homes."
Defense attorney Jose Baez complained that two prosecution experts are essentially offering new opinions not previously disclosed.
Assistant State Attorney Jeff Ashton argued the expert testimony has been shared with the defense and that the opinions are limited. The testimony involves examination of Caylee's skull and whether residue found inside was organic material.
Casey Anthony will not take the stand
Baez said, "they can't decide to ambush the defense after the defense has rested it's case."
But Perry warned that he hopes the issue raised by the defense is a real one. And he asked to review reports of the experts.
"There are real problems and there are imaginary problems," Perry said.
The proceedings are scheduled to continue through this weekend, including Saturday, Sunday and Monday.
