Casey Anthony: Coverage of jail release starts Saturday night

Local stations plan extended coverage of Casey Anthony’s departure from Orange County Jail on Sunday. Anthony is scheduled to be released after being acquitted of first-degree murder in the death of her daughter, Caylee.
WFTV-Channel 9 and WKMG-Channel 6 will extend their 11 p.m. newscasts Saturday.
WFTV says it will go at least 90 minutes and offer Anthony coverage at 10 p.m. on sister station WRDQ-Channel 27, WFTV news director Bob Jordan said.
WKMG plans at least two hours of coverage beginning at 11 p.m. Saturday, General Manager Skip Valet said. Lauren Rowe and Gaard Swanson will anchor.
WESH-Channel 2 will offer live updates during Saturday prime time and extended coverage in late news at 10 on WKCF-Channel 18 and at 11 on WESH. “At this time, there is no guarantee of when or where she will be released from and it seems irresponsible to guarantee live coverage of something no one knows is going to happen,” said WESH news director Bob Longo. “When she is released, WESH will deliver comprehensive coverage across all our platforms.
A spokeswoman for WOFL-Channel 35 said: “We will be monitoring the situation throughout the night and doing live updates throughout the night as we wait for the release. We will have extended live coverage of her release.”
Central Florida News 13 Live will be live on the hour Saturday and Sunday. The cable news channel will go to continuous coverage when news warrants and will offer a wrap-up Sunday morning, said General Manager Robin Smythe. “We’re prepared. We’re planning to be flexible,” Smythe said.
