Casey Anthony case: WESH says tape shows she doubled over, hyperventilated when remains were found
The Casey Anthony case was raining bombshells Thursday.
WESH-Channel 2's Bob Kealing reported there's a videotape of Anthony's reaction when a meter reader found remains near her family's home. "Investigators say the tape shows Casey's consciousness of guilt because her reaction came days before the remains were actually identified as her daughter," Kealing said.
Her reaction? A source said she stared at a TV set, doubled over twice and hyperventilated, Kealing reported. Casey Anthony is charged with daughter Caylee's murder.Dominic Casey, a private investigator for the Anthonys, was the focus of other reports. Three times the private eye had visited the spot where Caylee's remains would be found a month later.
WFTV-Channel 9 anchor Martie Salt asked: "Who told him to go there?" Good question.
WFTV's Kathi Belich explored inconsistencies in the private eye's story. First he said he went to the spot to see if had been Casey Anthony's hangout as a teen -- a comment that detectives found irrelevant. Then the private eye said a psychic from Virginia told him to go there on that very day.
"Big coincidence," Belich said, her voice dripping with sarcasm.
Dominic Casey "flat out denied that he found Caylee's remains here in November," Belich said. "Someone told him not to call 911 if he ever found Caylee's body. Secretly, he told investigators who that was.
Publicly, on the record, he said it was not anyone from the Anthonys' home or anyone working for the Anthonys. Another mystery," Belich said with more sarcasm.
WKMG-Channel 6's Mike DeForest explored an interview between Dominic Casey and detectives. Who told him not to alert law enforcement if he found the body? "Just as the private eye was about to divulge his secret, detectives stopped the tape recorder,"
DeForest said. "Dominic Casey, who originally worked with Jose Baez on the defense team, had concerns that his answers might be privileged information."
In a later report, WFTV's Belich reported that Dominic Casey had three separate contracts, including one with Casey Anthony. Is that bewildering or what?"He said he did not come to the [crime] scene based on any information he got directly from Casey," Belich said.
In other news:
WFTV's Salt said that today Casey Anthony had her first visit by her defense team in 10 days. WFTV also reported that another thousand pages of evidence will be released next week.
WKMG's Adam Longo explored how ABC had paid for rooms at the expensive Ritz-Carlton for the Anthonys on the day the remains were found. Brad Conway, attorney for George and Cindy Anthony, stressed that the family "never profited" from the situation, Longo said. Conway and the family "have cut out" ABC out to show their displeasure that the network had paid a licensing fee to meter reader Roy Kronk. Kronk found the Caylee's remains.
Longo noted that networks will say they don't pay for interviews.
"But they do pay licensing fees and apparently for hotel rooms, too" Longo said with sarcasm. WESH asked who is Annie Downing? WESH's Amanda Ober said Downing could be a major witness against former friend Casey Anthony. Downing went online today and described her mood as "triumphant," Ober said.
