July 22, 2011 - Charlottetown Police Services is requesting the public's assistance in locating a missing 16-year-old.



Miranda Catherine McCann is 5'9", weights 135 lbs with blonde hair and blue eyes.

Police believe McCann ran away from her Charlottetown home on July 15, 2011. She was last seen wearing ripped jeans and a purple Oasis Jacket.

Anyone having information concerning Miranda's whereabouts are asked to contact the Charlottetown Police Service at (902) 629-4172 or P.E.I. Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.

Missing P.E.I. girl likely in Halifax area

Charlottetown police are looking for a 16-year-old Prince Edward Island girl they believe has run away to the Halifax area.

Miranda Catherine McCann was last seen at her home in Charlottetown on July 15 wearing a purple jacket and ripped jeans.

Cpl. John Flood said police have learned the girl likely came to Nova Scotia.

Miranda is five-foot-nine, weighs 135 pounds and has blond hair and blue eyes.

Charlottetown police are asking anyone with information about her whereabouts to contact them, Halifax Regional Police or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.

Miranda Catherine McCann: LOCATED


Charlottetown Police Services said Tuesday that a 16-year-old teenage female missing from her city home the past 10 days has been located in Halifax.

Police had issued a public appeal last week seeking assistance in locating the young woman.

City police said it is believed that Miranda Catherine McCann ran away from her Charlottetown home July 15. Halifax Regional Police located her at noon Tuesday at a woman’s shelter in the N.S. capital and contacted Charlottetown police to confirm her whereabouts.

McCann was aware that her family was looking for her and she contacted them Tuesday to say she was safe but was going to remain in Halifax.
