The COOPER Twins - 2 yo (2010) - Bartlesville (N of Tulsa) OK
A Bartlesville man pled guilty Friday afternoon to charges of abusing
his two and a half month old twin boys that resulted them sent to the
hospital last December. 20-year-old Chester Tanner Cooper has been
charged with two counts of child abuse by injury. Earlier this month,
Cooper waived jury trial in this case. According to a court affidavit,
Bartlesville police were sent to Jane Phillips Medical Center in
reference of two boys being injured with one of the boys had several
fractures to his skull and was bleeding in the brain. The victim was
later flown to St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa while the other boy
remained in JPMC for observation. Cooper told the police he used force
on both boys, causing one of the boys to have head injuries. Cooper's
next court date is September 21st. Cooper remains in jail on a $500,000
bond.

A Bartlesville man accused of abusing his 2
1/2-month-old twin boys in December 2010 has pleaded guilty to charges
stemming from the incident.
Chester Tanner Cooper, 20, appeared
before District Judge Curtis DeLapp on Friday to enter a blind plea to
two counts of child abuse by injury. He had previously waived jury trial
in the matter on Aug. 3.
A pre-sentence investigation has been ordered in the case and formal sentencing is set for Sept. 21.
DeLapp
noted that the charges are both “85 percent crimes,” meaning Cooper
will have to complete 85 percent of any sentence before being considered
for parole.
The case began on Dec. 13, 2010, after Bartlesville
Police Department officers responded to a local hospital in reference to
a baby being brought to the emergency room with possible head injuries.
According
to a probable cause affidavit filed in the case, the 2 1/2-month-old
alleged victim was found to have “several fractures to his skull” and
“bleeding on his brain in various areas and in various stages of
healing.”
The infant was flown by helicopter to Saint
Francis Hospital in Tulsa due to the seriousness of his injuries,
according to the affidavit.
Police say the baby’s twin brother was admitted to the hospital for observation as a precaution.
Police
contend that, when interviewed, Cooper “described and demonstrated
using force on both boys in the past four days that would be sufficient
force to cause (the alleged victim’s) injuries,” the affidavit states.
According
to police, Cooper admitted to using force against both children on Dec.
10, 2010, and using it against the injured twin again on Dec. 11, 2010,
at the family’s residence, located in the 1600 block of South Oak
Avenue in Bartlesville.
Cooper remains in the Washington County Jail on $500,000 bond.

The charges stem from the abuse of Cooper's 2 1/2-month-old twin boys in December 2010.
Reports show that on Dec. 13, 2010, Bartlesville Police Department officers responded to a local hospital in reference to a baby being brought to the emergency room with possible head injuries.

BARTLESVILLE, Okla. - A sentencing hearing for a Bartlesville man who
pleaded guilty to child abuse continues Wednesday afternoon in a
Washington County courtroom.
Chester Cooper, 21, pleaded guilty
in August to two counts of child abuse. He was arrested in December
after his two-and-a-half month old twin sons were admitted to Jane
Phillips Medical Center, one with head injuries so severe he was flown
to Tulsa for treatment.
According to court documents, police were
called Dec. 13 in regard to a child admitted to the hospital with
serious head injuries. He was flown to Saint Francis Hospital in Tulsa,
and after a CT scan, physicians determined the child had suffered
several fractures on his skull and bleeding on his brain.
Cooper
admitted "using force on both boys" sufficient enough to cause their
injuries. He entered a blind plea during his court appearance Aug. 12.

Father sentenced on abuse of twin boys
Wednesday, October 19, 2011 5:01 PM CDT
Chester Tanner Cooper was sentenced Wednesday afternoon to 45 years -- with 30 to serve -- on a count of child abuse by injury and to a 45-year suspended sentence on a count of child abuse, to run consecutive to the first count, for the abuse of his twin 2 1/2-month-old sons.
District Judge Curtis DeLapp gave Cooper, 21, an opportunity to withdraw his blind plea to the two counts after Cooper's attorney, Steven G. Venturi, expressed confusion over the state's recommendation on sentencing. The state had made a recommendation for 25 years -- with 15 to serve -- which, according to District Attorney Kevin Buchanan, was rejected in April.
DeLapp explained that if sentencing proceeded, with a blind plea, he would have the ultimate decision on the sentencing.
Cooper agreed to proceed.
The case began on Dec. 13, 2010, when Bartlesville Police Department officers responded to a local hospital in reference to a baby brought to the emergency room with possible head injuries.
According to the probable cause affidavit filed in the case, the 2 1/2-month-old alleged victim was found to have "several fractures to his skull" and "bleeding on his brain in various areas and in various stages of healing."
