An Amber Alert has been issued for a missing boy in Buncombe County.

Authorities say 4 yr. old Aiden Crawford was last seen Tuesday at a park in Swannanoa getting into a pickup truck with his mother, 26 yr. old Erin Crawford, and an unknown male.

Authorities say Erin Crawford may have left the state in violation of a custody order, and they are concerned for the child's safety due to prior violence in her home. There's no word on why the child wasn't reported missing until today, but authorities say they have not been able to check the welfare of the child or to serve the court-issued immediate custody order.

Aiden Crawford is described as 3'9", 45 lbs. with brown hair and blue eyes. Erin Crawford is described as 5'2", 145 lbs. with brown hair and blue eyes.

They may be traveling in a maroon Chevy pickup truck, or a 2005 black Volkswagen Jetta with NC plates AAS 7299, and authorities say they may be in North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, or Nevada.

RALEIGH 5:16 PM -- The Buncombe County Sheriffs Office is searching for a missing child:


Aiden Crawford.

Aiden Crawford is a 4-year-old White male, approximately 3 feet 9 inches tall, weighing $5 pounds.
He has brown hair, and blue eyes.

Allegedly, there is 1 abductor: Erin Nicole Crawford.

Erin Nicole Crawford is described as 26 years old, White, female, 5 feet 2 inches tall, weighing 145 pounds.
She has brown hair and blue eyes.

The vehicle is a Maroon Chevrolet.

SWANNANOA — The Buncombe County Sheriff’s Office located a 4-year-old child who was the subject of an Amber Alert after authorities said his mother took him from a mobile home park here.

The alert was issued for Aiden Crawford, who, before he was located, was last seen at Forest Hills mobile home park with his mother, Erin Nicole Crawford, 26, and an unidentified man.

Sheriff’s deputies had been unable to serve a court-issued immediate custody order, according to the notice, and believed Erin Crawford left the state to avoid the order.

Police said they were concerned about the safety of the child because of prior violence in the mother’s home.

Details of the boy’s recovery were not immediately available late Friday.

Crawford has made reference to the sovereign citizen movement and does not recognize the court’s authority, according to the notice. The loose network of individuals believes existing U.S. government is illegitimate and is classified as an extremist anti-government group by the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Sovereign citizens seek a minimalist government and fight the existing government and other forms of authority by harassment through frivolous paperwork and sometimes resorting to violence, according to the Anti-Defamation League.

Crawford was believed to have been headed to Tennessee, South Carolina or Nevada, according to the alert.
