Casey Anthony: Cindy ’seems to make an excuse at every turn,’ Dr. Phil says

Dr. Phil McGraw visited “The View” this morning to promote his interview with George and Cindy Anthony, but he gave viewers another reason to tune out.

“She seems to make an excuse at every turn,” McGraw said of Cindy Anthony’s responses.

“She’s in denial?” Barbara Walters asked.

“Very much in denial,” McGraw added.

Walters said she envied McGraw and described the Anthonys as “the couple all of America wants to hear.”

“This is such a coup to have them,” she told McGraw.

“How did you get the interview?” Walters asked.

McGraw cited telling protesters outside the Anthony home to leave. “They [the Anthonys] remembered that,” McGraw said.

Walters wanted to know if the Anthonys think their daughter, Casey, killed her child, Caylee. McGraw said they’re divided about that. Casey was acquitted in July of murder in the death of Caylee.

McGraw said that the Anthonys asked for a donation for a foundation in Caylee’s name, but the money hasn’t been paid.

McGraw said he didn’t believe that George Anthony molested his daughter or that dysfunction in the family can explain Casey’s behavior. The interview on “Dr. Phil” will air at 3 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday on WOFL-Channel 35.

On “The View,” McGraw revealed there will be a third part to the interview, and it will air Monday, Sept. 19. “We kind of deconstruct the trial and the verdict,” he said.

“I think it will change people’s view, whether they like them before or didn’t,” McGraw said of the interview.
