BECCA RACHELLE GALLOP - 16 yo - New Era/Alma MI
Parents of a former Alma girl, missing since Sept. 26, are frantic with worry.
Becca
Rachelle Gallop, 16, now of New Era, and a sophomore at Shelby High
School in the western part of the state, is the daughter of Jeremy and
Rhonda (Thomas) Gallop, who both grew up in Gratiot County.
Becca attended kindergarten in Alma before her family moved to Whitehall and then New Era.
Becca’s aunt, Chanda DeLong, of Alma, said the teen would like nothing more than to move back to Alma.
At 5 ft. 7 in. tall and weighing between 110 and 120 pounds, Becca has brown hair, hazel eyes and is fair skinned.
She also has a small diamond stud on her nose.
Jeremy Gallup said he drove his daughter to school on Wednesday, Sept. 26 and that was the last she was seen.
Only later that day, he said, the family learned she never attended school, and they immediately called police.
Police are listing Becca as a runaway and the family too, wants to believe she ran away, but they have no evidence of that.
Becca had no money, no cell phone, or anything much with her, her father said. She had no car.
A
former cheerleader and a good student, Becca is “caring, giving and
spiritual. She wants to help children. She wanted to do missionary
work,” her father said.
However, that was before she began dating a young man, age 19, about five months ago.
“She changed 110 degrees (since she began dating him,)” her father said.
It’s been reported that the young man, who’s from New Era, has claimed he hasn’t seen her, a friend said.
Even
though “that relationship changed her,” according to her father, other
friends and family say it’s out of character for Becca to want to be
away from her brothers, ages 15 and 4.
Although police are
cautious about releasing any information, Jeremy Gallop said they “are
doing a thorough job.” He thinks she may have run away with a family
member, but he said he has no knowledge of who that might be.
It is possible she could have tried to run away to Alma, but again, there is no proof, family members said.
“We are devastated,” her aunt said.
Anyone
with information regarding her whereabouts, is asked to call the Oceana
Sheriff’s office at 231-873-2121 or 231-869-5858 after 5 p.m.

Re: BECCA RACHELLE GALLOP - 16 yo - New Era/Alma MI
OCEANA COUNTY — A Shelby High School junior has been missing for
nearly a week, and authorities say they haven't received any solid
information that would lead them to the missing 16-year-old, Becca
Gallop.
Gallop, of New Era, was last seen when she was dropped off
at the high school, but hasn't returned home or contacted her friends
or family since Thursday, said Oceana County Sheriff Bob Farber.
The
sheriff's office is investigating Gallop's disappearance, but she has
been listed as a “runaway” in the area's law enforcement information
network.
“There is an ongoing investigation into her
whereabouts,” Farber said. “We've been running down several leads and
checked several residences and we've spoken with her boyfriend and her
family for other possibilities.”
Her mother, Rhonda Gallop, said
she believes someone “knows something" and urges those who may have an
idea where she is to contact police.
“I think she's safe,” she said. “We would just love for her to at least call us and come home. I just want to know she is OK."
Farber
said authorities don't believe there is “foul play” involved and an
Amber Alert hasn't been issued because it isn't believed Gallop is in
immediate danger.
Family and friends have started a “BRING BECCA HOME” Facebook page that had more than 1,700 fans as of late Tuesday.
Farber
is urging the public to call authorities with any information on her
whereabouts at (231) 873-2121 during business hours or (231) 869-5858
after 5 p.m.
Gallop is described as 5 feet 7 inches tall, with brown hair and hazel eyes, weighing around 115 pounds.

Re: BECCA RACHELLE GALLOP - 16 yo - New Era/Alma MI
OCEANA COUNTY — The search for 16-year-old Becca Rachelle Gallop, the Oceana County teen missing for nearly a week, continued late Wednesday.
The
Shelby High School junior, who has been missing since Sept. 29, hasn't
contacted family or friends in the six days she's been gone and
authorities are actively trying to locate her, said Oceana County
Sheriff Bob Farber.
“We're really looking into all the avenues out
there,” Farber said. “We're getting calls like crazy. We're just trying
to make sure we're doing what we need to do to find her.”
While Gallop, of New Era, is considered a “runaway” at this point, her family
would still like to get in contact with her to be sure she's not in any danger.
The brown-haired, hazel teen was last seen at the Shelby
High School after her father, Jeremy Gallop, had dropped her off,
according to her mother, Rhonda Gallop.
But when they learned the teen hadn't attended school that day, authorities were called and an investigation began, Farber said.
Shelby Public Schools Superintendent Scott Lund said the community is “very concerned” at this point.
Lund said there are “a lot of questions” involved with Gallop's
disappearance, but he hopes they get answers soon. He described Gallop
as a good student who was not known to cause "trouble."
Lund said he heard Gallop left her home voluntarily because she had some disagreements with her parents.
“We're very concerned for her and her family. We would hope that she makes
contact by phone or some way with her mother to let her know she's OK.
We hope for whatever reason she wanted to leave, that they can work it
out,” Lund said.
School officials have been working with the
Shelby Police Department and have been relaying any information they can
garnish from students to authorities.
“We're letting the police know everything we hear,” Lund said.
Farber said authorities don't believe there is “foul play” involved and an
Amber Alert hasn't been issued because it isn't believed Gallop is in immediate danger.
Family and friends have started a “BRING BECCA HOME” Facebook
page that had more than 2,200 fans on it late Wednesday. The page
includes messages to Gallop, urging her to come home, contact her family
and others wrote prayers for her well-being.

at (231) 873-2121 during business hours or (231) 869-5858 after 5 p.m.

Re: BECCA RACHELLE GALLOP - 16 yo - New Era/Alma MI
OCEANA COUNTY — Now that Becca Gallop, the 16-year-old Shelby High
School junior who disappeared last week has turned herself in to the
Oceana County Sheriff's Office, the investigation will shift to this:
Why did she leave and where did she go?
Lt. Craig Mast said
deputies are speaking with Gallop, but he declined to release details on
where the teen went after she was last seen at Shelby High School on
Sept. 29. Further information will be available after authorities
investigate further.
“All appropriate steps are being taken to find out where she's been this week,” Mast said Friday morning.
Mast
did confirm that Gallop, who lives in New Era with her parents and two
brothers, had left and returned on her own accord and did not suffer any
injuries while she was missing. She turned herself in to the sheriff's
office early Friday morning.
“She was a voluntary, missing runaway,” he said. “She wasn't imprisoned or abused."
Gallop's
disappearance prompted an outpouring of concern from friends and
family. They started a Facebook page called “BRING BECCA HOME,” where
friends and members of the community posted pleas for the teen to
return. After news of Gallop's return was released Friday morning,
Facebook users quickly posted messages, such as “Welcome back
sweetheart” and “Best news we've had in days.”
Authorities were equally pleased.
“It's a relief,” Mast said of Gallop's return. “It's an absolute relief that this didn't turn into a worst-case scenario.”
After
Gallop's disappearance, her family turned to law enforcement and social
media websites and planned to hire a private investigator in an effort
to unravel the mystery surrounding her whereabouts. Gallop was last seen
by her father when he dropped her off for school on Sept. 29.
Gallop,
who grew up in Alma, moved to the Whitehall area when she was 5, then
started Shelby High School as a freshman, her mother said.

HART – A 16-year-old Shelby girl turned herself in to the Oceana County Sheriff’s
Department early Friday morning after being reported missing for eight
days.Becca Rachelle Gallop, a Shelby High School junior, was reported missing
Sept. 29, after she was dropped off at the high school by her father, but did not attend classes that day.
Lt. Craig Mast of the Oceana County Sheriff’s Department, reported
Gallop came to the sheriff’s department at about 5 a.m. Friday.
“She was unharmed, not abused and was not abducted,” Lt. Mast reported.
Mast said Gallop was voluntarily missing. Friday afternoon Mast said
Gallop had not yet returned to her family. “There are private family issues which need to be addressed.”
According to a report from Oceana’s Herald-Journal newspaper, the
sheriff’s department and Shelby Police Department were working together to find Gallop.
The information about her disappearance was entered into the Law
Enforcement Information Network (LEIN), and officers visited family,
friends and associates in an attempt to locate her.
The family sought help in finding the teen by posting a Facebook page
BRING BECCA HOME which had 2,918 guests, enlisted friends to search and
sought funds for hiring a private investigator.
On Friday, the girl’s mother, Rhonda Thomas Gallop posted on Facebook
that the family is grateful for all the help in searching for her
daughter, and that donated funds will be used for rehabilitation, and if
there is any remaining, it will be donated to missing children’s charities.
