A 2-year-old boy went missing in the Pine Knot community of
McCreary County on Tuesday, and a child matching his description was
later found dead in a reservoir nearby.

state police said the body found in the Laurel Creek Reservoir in the
Pine Knot community is believed to be that of Gage Max Williams, who
went missing from a home on Ed Branscum Road on Tuesday.

Gage was thought to have wondered into a wooded area near the home.

Re: GAGE MAX WILLIAMS - 2 yo - McCreary Co (W of I-75 nr TN border) KY
They had only lived in Kentucky for several weeks…now a young family from Alabama…is dealing with tragedy.
“I have tons of questions that will probably never be
answered,” says Mary Williams, whose 2-year-old son, Gage was found
dead in McCreary Reservoir - 5 and half hours after he was reported
missing on Tuesday.
First…Mary Williams wants to know what happened to her son’s clothes.
“He wouldn’t have taken his clothes off, and last night the officers said they couldn’t find his clothes,” said Williams.
She says Gage had a shirt and pants on when he left
their house Tuesday afternoon. When he was found in the lake, they say
he didn’t have clothes on.
The distance from her home to the lake is rugged and hilly. She doubts her 2 year old would travel that distance by himself.
“I think someone might have helped him into that water. I really do,” she said.
The toddler was found after hours of searches by
nearly 100 people, many of them volunteers. All who were hoping for a better outcome.
“I would like to thank everybody who came out and
helped search for him, for the hours they were out here, didn’t stop at all,” she said.
Kentucky State Police says all Williams questions are a part of their active and ongoing death investigation.
