AMANDA FLANNERY - 14 yo - Willows/ Maxwell CA
A 14-year-old Willows girl has
not been seen by her family for a week, and the only contact has been
one call to her mother, and a voice message left with her grandmother.
The police consider Amanda Flannery to be a runaway, and while the
family does not dispute the likelihood that is the case, they have grown
increasingly concerned by the lack of contact.
“What is unusual is her boyfriend calls his grandmother everyday and
tells her Amanda will call. But I have not heard anything,” said
Amanda’s mother, Nicole Flannery of Maxwell.
The boy, 15, is also missing.
Flannery said she received one call from her daughter, who indicated
she was OK, needed her birth certificate so she could enroll in school,
but that she “was far away.” She refused to say where she was.
Amanda Flannery was last seen walking down Shasta Street in Willows on Oct. 14.
Her grandmother, Kathy Flannery of Willows, with whom Amanda has been
living on Shasta Street, was on her lunch break from work and saw her
skipping out on school.
It was the third or fourth time that week.
“She found her cutting school, so she picked her up and took her home
and told her she better get to school,” Nicole Flannery said.
Flannery’s former husband, but not Amanda’s father, reported seeing
the girl walking on Shasta Street not long after that, and that is the
last time any family member has seen her.
Kathy Flannery said she went to the home of the boyfriend’s
grandmother, where he lived, to see what she knew, and by the time she
got home less than 15 minutes later, Amanda had left a voice message
indicating she was OK.
That was on Oct. 15.
Flannery said she had told her granddaughter and adults associated
with her boyfriend that she was not allowed at his house, but had found
her there a number of times.
So, the general consensus is she ran away.
“I am hoping that’s it, but I don’t know,” Nicole Flannery said. “But I don’t want to sit on my hands if it was a kidnapping.”
Kathy Flannery is certain her granddaughter is not in the Willows
area. She said the town is too small for not to have been seen by
someone.
She believes someone drove her out of the area.
“But why would an adult drive a 14-year-old girl away?” Flannery asks.
Police said if anyone assists in keeping a child from his or her guardian, it could be a crime.
Amanda Flannery is about 5 feet, 5 inches tall and weighs about 120 pounds. She has dark, shoulder-length hair and dark eyes.
If anyone has information, call Nicole Flannery, 530-501-5450, or Kathy Flannery, 530-592-5681.
