Officers with the Billings Police Department on Tuesday
afternoon found a Billings teen who left home in mid-October and
was declared missing earlier this week.
Thomas Peace, 13, left his home Oct. 16. Friends had contact
with him by cellphone through Oct. 24 and then no longer heard from him, police said.
Police declared Thomas a missing person Monday.
Detective Sgt. Mitch Hart said an anonymous tipster told George
Zorzakis, the school resource officer at Lewis and Clark Middle
School, that the teen, who has a history of running away from home,
was at the home of 36-year-old Nicole Hutchinson, at 1524 10th St. W.
At about 2 p.m., officers went to the home, where they found
Thomas and detained Hutchinson.
Thomas was safe and healthy when officers found him but was
taken to Billings Clinic to be checked out, which Hart said is
standard procedure in such cases.
Hart said Hutchinson faces charges of endangering the welfare of
children, harboring Thomas and obstructing a police investigation
pending further investigation and review by the city attorney's office.
Hart said it isn't yet clear where Thomas was during the entire
time he was missing, and investigators are still trying to
determine the nature of his relationship with Hutchinson.
