A Salem, Ore., couple searching for their missing 14-year-old daughter
says the teenager might be with an Occupy group in Eureka or Arcata.
Breanna Kirkland didn't come home after she left South Salem High School on
Oct. 7, according to her mother Barb Kirkland. Breanna Kirkland hasn't
been seen by her friends or family since then, but her mother said the
teen has called a friend in Salem using two phone numbers with a 707 area code.
Barb Kirkland also said a law enforcement officer
in the Salem area called one of the 707 numbers and found out that
Breanna Kirkland may be involved with the Occupy Arcata group.
Don Thomson, public information officer for the Marion County Sheriff's
Office, said deputies are investigating a runaway juvenile case
connected with Breanna Kirkland and that there is a nationwide parole
violation warrant out for her arrest. Thomson said he couldn't confirm
whether Breanna Kirkland is involved with an Occupy group in Arcata or Eureka.
”We've been talking with the family and working with them, as has the juvenile probation department,” he said.
Breanna Kirkland may be with a man in his 20s named David and may be planning
to move to Kansas with him, Barb Kirkland said, but she doesn't know
David's last name or what he looks like. Breanna Kirkland last contacted her friend on Nov. 18.
”She had mentioned to her best friend that David is her boyfriend,” Barb Kirkland said, adding that the FBI and
National Center for Missing and
Exploited Children are also searching for Breanna Kirkland. “He has
family in Kansas, so they might be going to Kansas.” Eureka Police
Department Detective Ron Harpham said a private investigator informed
the department that Breanna Kirkland may be with Occupy Arcata or Occupy
Eureka. Harpham said he didn't remember seeing her among the
protesters, and officers never arrested her during the sweeps in front of the courthouse.
Barb Kirkland said her husband, Kenny Kirkland, will be visiting the Eureka-Arcata area to put up fliers. For

A 14-year-old Salem, Ore., teenager was found in Arcata on Sunday, seven weeks after she left home.

Ken Kirkland said he found his daughter, Breanna Kirkland, outside Arcata Liquors on Ninth Street at about 9:30 p.m. Sunday. The pair arrived back in Salem on Monday night where Kirkland turned his daughter over to the Marion County Juvenile Department. According to the Marion County Sheriff's Office, there was a nationwide parole violation warrant out for Breanna Kirkland's arrest after she went missing.

According to her mother Barb Kirkland, Breanna Kirkland didn't come home after she left South Salem High School on Oct. 7. The teenager's family traced her to Humboldt County after Breanna Kirkland text-messaged a friend using two phone numbers with a 707 area code. A law enforcement officer from Salem had also informed Breanna Kirkland's parents that the 14-year-old may have been involved with the Occupy Arcata group, Barb Kirkland said.
Ken Kirkland said Breanna Kirkland had texted a friend again last week from a phone with an Arizona area code. Her parents spoke to a man who told them that Breanna Kirkland had been staying in Quartzsite, Ariz., near the California border and was headed back to Humboldt County.
Ken Kirkland traveled to Humboldt County on Friday to put up fliers and find his daughter.
