A 17-year-old teenager with a diminished mental capacity is missing from Marion County

Katelynn Marie Sargent may not have the skills to ensure her own safety, Marion County deputy sheriffs said.

She was last seen Monday at a residence in the 6800 block of N.E. 2nd
Loop in Ocala and may be somewhere between St. Augustine, Ormond Beach
and the Port Orange area. Detectives believe she may be heading toward Orlando.

She is white, 5 feet, 6 inches tall, 220 pounds with blond hair.

OCALA - Marion County Sheriff’s Office detectives are asking for assistance finding a missing and endangered juvenile.

Detectives say Katelynn Marie Sargent, 17, was picked up by a man
at her residence and then later apparently went off with another
person. Detectives do not know where she was dropped off, or who picked her up.
They believe that the teenager, described in a press
release as having a “diminished capacity to ensure her own safety,”
might be anywhere from Flagler Beach to the Port Orange area.
Her parents reported her missing after receiving a call saying she never showed up for school Monday.

Detective Rhonda Stroup said Orange County sheriff's deputies found
Katelynn Marie Sargent at an Orlando home late Friday afternoon, and she
was safe.
Since the teenager's disappearance, Stroup had been assigned to the case.
The detective said that from her investigation she learned the girl was at an Orlando home and asked deputies there to get her.
The girl is being reunited with her family.
