The BAILEY-STRONG Children - North Miami Beach FL

A North Miami Beach couple severely beat their 9-year-old son, who
was found so starved that he weighed just 35 pounds, police said.
Marsee
Strong, 34, and Edward Bailey, 40, were arrested Saturday night on
charges of aggravated child abuse. On Monday afternoon, they were still
jailed and had yet to post $65,000 bail.
According to North Miami Beach police, neighbors found the naked boy wandering the streets.



Paramedics rushed the boy to the hospital, where he begged for
food and told employees he had not eaten in three days. His body showed
“permanent marks of abuse all over,” according to an arrest report.
His
tiny body weighed as much as a 2-year-old’s. His hands and feet were
“swollen from the lack of food,” the police report said.
Strong
denied hitting the child but “admitted to failing to protect her child
from others and not properly supervising him and getting him medical
treatment in a timely manner.” Bailey also denied hitting the boy but
admitted he allowed “others” to hit him, police said.
Both suspects are unemployed.
The
family had a history with the Florida Department of Children and
Families, according to an agency spokeswoman, although details were not
immediately released. Relatives are now caring for the boy’s siblings.

A mother and father faced a judge after their child was allegedly found running in the street naked and malnourished.
According to police, they found the
9-year-old child wandering near his home off of Northeast 152nd Street
and 14th Avenue. Police arrested the boy's parents, Marsee Strong and
Edward Bailey.

Authorities said the child jumped out of a
window and walked the streets naked begging for food. "He was totally
naked, and I said I don't know if he was in the shower. I don't know why
is he totally naked jumping out," said a neighbor who witnessed the
naked boy on the street.
According to authorities, the boy was
covered in bruises and was significantly underweight for his age, at 35
pounds. Police also said the boy's hands and feet were swollen from
malnutrition.

The judge banned both parents from having
contact with the child. "Mr. Bailey, you cannot have any contact with
this 9-year-old child, do you understand that?"

[size=9][size=9]Neighbors said they are stunned. "All we
saw was a lovely family and kids who were happy round their mother and
daddy," said a neighbor.

On Monday afternoon, the case went before
a juvenile judge to determine where the other children in the family
will live. The attention of the judge turned toward the Department of
Children and Families, who has had contact with the family before. "He
looks like he came from Auschwitz. That does not happen in a month,"
said Judge Cindy Lederman at the hearing.
Judge Lederman chastised DCF after
learning the department visited the family in December to help provide
mental health services for the family. "And at that time, the child did
not present with these marks and bruises either," said a representative
of DCF.

"This child, in a period of one month
lost all of this weight, so that I can see his bones through his skin?"
questioned Judge Lederman in response.

In court, it was alleged the child in
question has mental health issues and does not eat. However, Judge
Lederman did not accept that as an excuse. "This is like a neon sign of
abuse that should have been obvious to anyone who has had anything to do
with this family in the last few years," said Judge Lederman. "I mean,
this is one of the worst cases I've ever seen in terms of the
photographs of this child. How can we have been blind to this child's
abuse? Seriously, it's horrible."

Late Monday afternoon, the Department of
Children and Families released a statement in the case that read in
part: "It would be imprudent on our part to rush to judgments without
having all of the facts. In this case and in every case, our priority
and focus is the safety and well-being of the children."

The five other children have been placed with a relative.

Strong and Bailey remain behind bars.

I wish there were a law to sterilize monsters like these parents. Ugh.

Once again Florida's DCF has severely harmed a child by their false reporting and neglect.

None of these children should have been allowed to live with these evil parents.

Once again, they will not admit the error of their ways and another investigation will be done to tell them what they already know, they failed in their duty to this child and his siblings.

These parents need to rot in prison.

Miami-Dade Circuit Judge Cindy Lederman likened boy, 9, found in street to a concentration camp survivor

Joseph Lee studied a color snapshot of his 9-year-old nephew Monday as a Miami child-welfare judge glanced at Lee.

The judge was looking for signs that Lee was as disturbed by the photo as she was. But Lee simply stared at the picture.

"I'm looking for words," Lee said. "I was not aware of any of this."

The
photo, which was not released publicly, depicted a little boy who had
become so emaciated that his bones protruded from his skin and his eyes
bulged from their sockets, Miami-Dade Circuit Judge Cindy Lederman said.
She likened him to a concentration camp survivor.

The boy, who
is not being named, was discovered by police wandering his North Miami
Beach neighborhood Saturday — beaten, naked and starving. His parents,
Marsee Strong, 34, and Edward Bailey, 40, remain at the Miami-Dade
County Jail on charges of aggravated child abuse and neglect on $65,000
bail.

The boy and four of his siblings were placed in the custody
of Lee, a maternal uncle who was ordered by the judge not to allow the
boy's parents any contact with him. Lee also agreed to adopt the
children if their parents are unable to regain custody. The boy has an
18-year-old sister who is pregnant.

"He looks like he just came
out of Auschwitz," Lederman said. "This is like a neon sign for child
abuse. It would have been obvious to anyone who came in contact with
this family the last few years."

Among those who came in contact:
a child-abuse investigator from the state Department of Children &
Families, a mental health counselor from Jackson Memorial Hospital and
educators from the 9-year-old's school — who called the state's child
abuse hotline recently seeking help for the boy.

Lederman set a
hearing for next month to hear from all those people. "It appears to me
that there has been gross negligence here," she said.

The boy was
found wandering the neighborhood near his house, on the 1400 block of
Northeast 152nd St., about 8 p.m. Saturday. North Miami Beach police say
he had jumped out the window of his parents' home "to escape his
abusers."

I'm confused as in the above article the Judge is speaking to Joseph Lee the uncle. Is the judge confronting the uncle because he was supposed to have custody of the children and he allowed them around the parents when he wasn't supposed to? If so, is he being charged too? This story is confusing to me. It sounds like a houseful of idiots and monsters around these kids. Both parents said they didn't hit the kids but allowed others too? What scumbags. I hope everyone is prosecuted. Everyone failed this poor kid. It's a miracle he's alive. Oh and isn't it just hunky dory that the sister is pregnant? Sheesh....babies having babies. Unfortunately we'll probably be reading about it being abused on here soon.

The judge wanted to see his reaction to the pictures showing the poor little boy looking like an Auschwitz victim. I think he wanted to see if the uncle had prior knowledge of the inhumane treatment of the boy.

He must have passed muster because the judge gave him custody.

Lee does not live with these monster child torturers.

I can't quite understand it though. If he had seen the boy he would have known he was being mistreated and starved.

Just like the case worker knew, and did nothing about it. They sure hire some under achieving idiots at DCF.
