"Infant John Doe" - 14 Months/ Accused: Zachary Robinett - Burton/ Genesee Cty MI

A Burton man has been arraigned on first-degree child abuse charges after a toddler was critically injured while in his care.

The incident stems from a call to police on the evening of Feb. 11 at a home on Chicory Lane in Burton.

According to Genesee County Prosecutor David
Leyton, 19-year-old Zachary Robinett was arrested after investigators
determined he had been alone with his girlfriend's 14-month-old son when
police discovered the baby unresponsive.

Leyton said that Robinett's girlfriend, the child's mother, had been at work when the episode took place.

According to Leyton, the baby suffered a
fractured skull and bleeding on the brain, as well as several bruises to
his body and head.

Following treatment, the baby is recovering. Leyton told the Flint Journal that doctors refer to the boy as a "miracle baby."

Leyton said that Robinett is currently being held at the Genesee County Jail.
