Authorities in Kennesaw and Coweta County are trying to locate a
missing 19-year-old who sent his family a series of disturbing texts
shortly before he vanished.
The Coweta County Sheriff's Department says Joshua Norris could be in
danger. The teenager and the red Toyota Celica haven't been seen since
last Friday.

"I just want him home," said the teenager's mother Robin Norris. "We're going to find you Joshua. We're going to find you."

Late last week, Norris traveled from his home in Kennesaw to visit
some friends in Coweta County. On Thursday he was jailed for misdemeanor
possession of marijuana.




Norris' father bailed him out of jail at 8:00 Friday morning. An hour
and a half later the two parted. The teenager told his dad he was
traveling back to Kennesaw.

No one is sure if he ever made it.

"He was depressed and angry about being arrested," said the
teenager's father James Norris. "I told him it wasn't the end of the
world, and he seemed to take that pretty good."

Still, for several hours on Friday, John Norris' parents received a
series of text messages indicating he was despondent over the arrest. In
one text he told his mother he couldn't take it. In another he said all
he wanted to do was make his parents proud.

The last text he sent his father at 8:20 p.m. on Friday was to tell James Norris that he loved him.

At one point that day, the 19-year-old sent a text to a friend indicating that he was almost back to Kennesaw.

On Monday, someone found the teenager's phone still in Coweta County.
It was spotted on the side of Highway 29 just south of Newnan.

"I'm confused and scared," said Norris.

Authorities in Kennesaw and Coweta County are circulating information
about Joshua Norris and the vehicle he was driving. Investigators in
Coweta County say they fear Norris may have harmed himself. They say
while there is no indication of foul play as of yet, they can't rule it
out.

The teen's father says his fear is that his son became involved with some bad people.

"The stuff people are telling me he was involved in leads me to believe maybe something is wrong," said the teen's father.

A 19-year-old missing for two weeks has made contact with his parents.


"He's been found and he is safe," James Norris said about his son, Joshua James Norris.


"We're just in a strange situation and that's really all I can say
right now," James Norris said, adding his son called him Wednesday afternoon.
James Norris said he has not yet seen his son. He declined to say where his son is or when he is expected to return to Newnan.
The younger Norris was last seen March 2 in Newnan and last heard from
around 10 p.m. that night in a text message to his parents saying he was
headed back to Kennesaw, where he lived part-time.
Major Jimmy Yarbrough with the Coweta County Sheriff's Office said that
as of right now, "officially, he is still listed as missing and endangered."
James Norris filed a missing person report with the Kennesaw Police
Department on March 4 after friends said they could not find him, nor
the Toyota Celica he had borrowed.
Joshua Norris' cell phone was discovered March 5 off U.S. 29, south of downtown Newnan.
His father filed a missing person report with the Coweta sheriff's office that day.
"We just want to thank everyone and all the investigators who helped
with this," James Norris said. "They just did an exceptional job.
"It just a blessing to know he's well," the father added.
