For weeks, thousands of people that have been following the Caylee Anthony murder case have been asking themselves why Orange County Sheriff's Deputy Richard Cain did not go to the location where Roy Kronk found Caylee's body in August of last year. In last weeks release of more evidence in the Casey Anthony murder case by the State of Florida, apparently Deputy Cain did not finish his search in August of 2008 because he saw a large snake and decided to leave.

Like so many other stories that have come to light in this murder case of a little two year old girl, the story told by Deputy Cain does not sound realistic to me at this stage of the investigation. While many people are deathly afraid of snakes, a law enforcement officer should do his or her job and conduct a good search when someone like Roy Kronk makes a call about finding the skeletal remains of a child's body - especially when a two year old girl was already missing from that neighborhood.

The sad fact for the Orange County Florida Sheriff's Office is that after this strange story about a snake from Richard Cain became public and when it is added to the fact that there have been hundreds of leaks about this case already coming from the same Sheriff's office - in a way that whole department is starting to look like a bunch of keystone cops. All of these police missteps will come back to haunt the prosecution when Casey Anthony goes on trial for murder in October.
