"Baby Boy" HICKS - at birth/ Accused: Mother-Anitra Hicks - Savannah GA
The 18 year old girl an indictment alleges murdered her newborn and
threw the baby in the trash says she didn't hurt her baby and didn't
know she was pregnant.
"I want people to know that my child is not the type of person to commit murder," Anitra Hick's mother Patricia Hicks said.
Hicks' parents were staying by her side on Wednesday as the news came
of the Grand Jury's indictment. Hicks has now been indicted on six
counts, including murder, two counts of felony murder, first degree
cruelty to a child, contributing to the deprivation of a minor and
concealing the death of the baby.
Hicks insists she didn't know she was pregnant.
"She gave birth to her baby and she thought she was having a bowel
movement and the baby came out in the toilet. She didn't know she was
pregnant. We didn't know she was pregnant," Hicks' mother said.
Hicks says she was alone in the bathroom when she had the baby and it
fell into the water. According to the indictment, she drowned the
baby...but Hicks says she never hurt her child and was in disbelief.
"I feel that my child was shocked. She was traumatized. She panicked," Patricia Hicks said.
Hicks says her daughter weighs 115 pounds, but never showed any signs of pregnancy.
"My child had a period. The whole time she never stopped having one.
There was no way she knew she was pregnant. My child did not start
dressing differently," Hicks said.
The family is now preparing for Hicks' arrest. They say she is trying to remain positive.
"She says Mama I don't care what people say about me. I know I'm true
with God. I'm true with myself. I know I did not do anything to harm my
baby," Hicks said.
The Chatham County Sheriff's Office says they will not arrest Hicks
until they get official paperwork. They expect that on Thursday or
Friday.

While I am not a female, nor have I ever undergone childbirth,
I have to presume that it feels different than dropping a deuce.
I call BS...with the grandparents (her parents) in denial.

An 18-year-old high school student from
Savannah, Georgia threw her newborn baby in the trash in December,
according to police. Now, the teen is facing murder charges.
A grand jury indicted Anitra Hicks Wednesday
afternoon on several charges, including murder, two counts of felony
murder and cruelty to a child.
The four page indictment not only reveals the
mother's name, but sheds some light on how and when the Baby Boy
Hicks, as he is refereed in the paperwork, was killed.
The indictment says there is enough evidence
to believe Hicks drowned her newborn immediately after birth and then
threw the baby boy into a dumpster. He was discovered almost two days
later by a sanitation worker who was doing morning pickups.
Hicks claims she didn't know she was pregnant
and did not hurt her newborn baby. Hicks' parents are staying by her
side and said their daughter thought she was having "a bowel movement
and the baby came out in the toilet."

how did her mother know she had her period the whole time? she couldve just lied to her mother. the girl needs to b held accountable for her actions. throwing a baby in the garbage is not acceptable. there was too much thought put into this to call it an accident or to say she panicked.
