AMIR CARTER-HENDERSON - 4 Months (9/2011) - Cincinnati OH
CINCINNATI -- The death of a boy years after he was abused has led to murder charges against the child's father.Gregory
Henderson pleaded guilty to abusing his 4-month-old son in June 2009.
The boy was hospitalized with serious injuries, and authorities said he
died in September as a result.Rohnisha Carter said she's spent that time caring
for her son, Amir, and she defends the boy's father."Nothing's
going to bring him back," Carter said. "He's gone. He's in a better
place now. No more (tracheotomies), G-tubes, shots. All the pain and
suffering he went through, no more."Henderson remains in prison
after admitting to felonious assault and child endangering, but Carter
said he pleaded guilty for only one reason."He was scared," she said.
"He didn't have money to fight, and without money you can't win."
Carter said her family intends to fight the murder charges.
"My whole world has turned upside down," Carter said.
"My son was born, he got sick and he died, and I'll never know why."
Carter said Amir died of pneumonia, and she doesn't understand how prosecutors can tie that to Henderson.

The last time Judge Norbert Nadel had Gregory Henderson in front of
him last year, Henderson admitted he beat his infant son into a coma and
Nadel sent him to prison for six years. But
Henderson was back in court Tuesday charged with murder after his son
died Sept. 25 as a result of the beating, a new indictment alleges.
Henderson pleaded not guilty.
Henderson,
26, was in the Loveland home of his girlfriend March 17, 2009, and
agreed to watch their son on her first day at a new job. Henderson beat
the child so badly he suffered a fractured skull, bleeding on the brain
and broken ribs, injuries that put him into a coma.
Prosecutors said the injuries were caused by Henderson hitting, shaking or throwing the infant against something.
Henderson’s
attorney, Clyde Bennett II, argued Tuesday that Henderson, already
serving a prison sentence for felonious assault for beating his child,
cannot now be tried for murder in the same case. The case next is in
court May 19.
