Couple charged with murder in death of baby found in freezer
The Toledo couple arrested earlier this month on charges for putting a baby boy in a freezer was charged with murder Tuesday morning.
Antonio Cervantes, 18, of 5324 Rector Dr., and Kenisha Pruitt, 20, of 2631 Scottwood Ave., assaulted the newborn baby boy causing its death, according to court records.
Both were arraigned on the murder charges Tuesday morning in Toledo Municipal Court; bond was set at $1 million. The pair were already being held in the Lucas County jail in lieu of a $1 million bond each for child endangering.
An autopsy done last week showed that the baby, found in a freezer at an Paine Avenue home in East Toledo, was born alive and likely lived two days or less, Dr. Cynthia Beisser, a deputy Lucas County coroner had said.
