GREENSBORO, N.C. — Deputies are searching for a 55-year-old woman that went missing on Thursday.



According to a news release, Nancy Wyman Jenkins, 55, was last seen at her home at 5760 Turner Smith Road around 5 a.m. Thursday morning. She was last seen wearing a black or red shirt and blue jeans.

Deputies said she left the home without taking any personal items or her vehicle.

A fan of FOX8 on Facebook posted the above photo on Friday with additional information about Jenkins.

Just
wanted to send an update for everyone. The law had the dog out last
night and tracked her scent and then lost it like she had left with
someone at the driveway. They brought what looked like swat team out
this morning and combed the entire area but didn't find anything. Still
needing prayers and anybody with info please let me know! I know my mom
has a lot on her and may have just needed to get away. My concern is
that she is safe and ok! I am so scared and just need to know she is ok!
I feel so helpless! Please please please let me know and thanks again
for the prayers!

Authorities still searching for missing woman

Nancy Twyman Jenkins was supposed to babysit her granddaughter on
Thursday afternoon, but she never showed up at her daughter’s home in Alamance County.

“When I talked to her the night before, I told her that I was going
to call and tell her what time to be here,” said her daughter Jami
Jenkins.

Jami Jenkins called her mother at about 11 a.m. Thursday, but she
didn’t get her. She left a message but never heard back. By 9 Thursday
night, 57-year-old Nancy Jenkins, who moved to Guilford County about a month ago, was reported missing to the Guilford County Sheriff’s Office.

Nancy Jenkins’ boyfriend and roommate last saw her at 5:20 a.m. Thursday.

“He was leaving for work, and she was still at the house,” Jami
Jenkins said. At the time, Jenkins was wearing a black shirt and blue
jeans.

A neighbor told authorities that Nancy Jenkins was seen putting a box
in a blue car at about 10:30 a.m. Thursday. Jami Jenkins doesn’t know
if the information is reliable. Nancy Jenkins left her truck, phone,
keys and purse behind, according to a Guilford County Sheriff’s Office
news release.

On Thursday night, investigators with the sheriff’s office used a
police dog to search around Nancy Jenkins’ home at 5760 Turner Smith
Road in Browns Summit

“They said the dog traced her from the house, to a clothesline to the
driveway and they lost the track,” Jami Jenkins said. “It was like she
had gotten in a car.”

About 25 officers searched the area on Friday but didn’t find any
trace of her. Jami Jenkins gave detectives her mother’s cell phone on
Monday, hoping they might be able pull some information off of it.
Nancy Jenkins has never disappeared before. However, Jami Jenkins
said that her mother has recently been struggling with her late
husband’s death. Charles Jenkins died in a motorcycle wreck on Oct. 31,
2008 on N.C. 87, about a mile south of Graham. That might be linked to
her disappearance.

“It was bothering her,” Jami Jenkins said. “I’m hoping she needed to get away to get herself together. … I just don’t know.”

It’s still not like Nancy Jenkins to not show up to care for her 17-month-old granddaughter.

“It’s odd. She’s always here to watch my daughter when she’s supposed
to be. She might be a few minutes late but she always shows up,” Jami
Jenkins said. “My daughter is what kept her going. … My mama thinks the
world of her, and my daughter thinks the world of my mama.”

Nancy Jenkins is 5 feet 2 inches tall and about 125 pounds. She frequently wears glasses.

Update
on my mom.....STILL MISSING! Detective called this morning and had a
few questions then told me he wanted to go look around her house again.
He met us to get moms phone and see if maybe she deleted calls or txts
that might give them some clues but weren't positive they would be able
to since its a prepaid phone but its worth a try. He called me back this
afternoon to tell me they had a call
from someone in Madison that they thought they had seen my mom at a
McDonalds so he followed up and brought back video and wanted us to come
look and we did but it wasn't her. :'( The Times News called me and
got correct info and did a story for the paper! Hope to have a news
release from the Sheriffs Department tomorrow to get it on the news! On a
good note, at least the public has theirs eyes open and are callin in
and tryin to help find her. Still waiting and hope that tonight or
tomorrow will bring good news of her being back! Thanks to everyone for
your help!

There has to be more to the story, IMHO. She is very upset over her husband's death, yet is living with a boyfriend? Those seem to be opposing factors although I have heard that people who were happily married want to be married again soon after a spouse's death. Why wouldn't the info be reliable about her putting a box in a blue car? Either someone saw her or not. I would think a neighbor would be familiar with what she looked like and where the car stopped in the neighborhood. It seems pretty cut and dried. My other thought was to ask if she had anything listed on a public list to donate to someone who would pick it up? I pray they find her soon and for what her frantic daughter is going through.

One other thought: They mention boyfriend and roommate. Is this one and the same person or does it refer to two different people?

her husband was killed in 2008....that is 4 long years. Not quick as mentioned above.

Riley081, do you have any more updates? I am looking to see if they've found her. I pray she returns safely.

Guilford County woman still missing

More than two weeks ago, Nancy Twyman Jenkins agreed to babysit her
granddaughter, but she never showed up at her daughter’s home in Alamance County.

Jenkins, 57, who lives on Turner Smith Road in Browns Summit, was
reported missing that same night on May 31, and authorities still
haven’t found her.

Jenkins, who moved in with her boyfriend about a month before she
disappeared, didn’t take any personal items — cell phone, purse or
wallet — with her or a vehicle. Her disappearance continues to baffle
investigators.

“We don’t know what we have,” said Guilford County
Sheriff’s Sgt. George Moore who is handling the missing persons case.
“We don’t know what happened. We don’t know if she left and doesn’t want
to be found. We don’t know what happened to her.”

Jenkins’ daughter, Jami Jenkins, said it’s not like her mother to
disappear. It’s not like her mother to not show up to babysit her
17-month-old granddaughter.

The last time Nancy Jenkins’ boyfriend saw her was at 5:20 a.m. May
31. A neighbor reported to authorities that Jenkins was seen at about
10:30 a.m. that same day. She was putting a box in a blue car.

Initially, deputies with the Guilford County Sheriff’s Office
searched the woods and area near Nancy Jenkins’ home, and the case
remains active. Her information has been entered into a national
database so if she comes in contact with police, Moore will be
contacted. Press releases regarding Jenkins’ disappearance have been
sent to media outlets. Jami Jenkins has distributed fliers around
Guilford and Alamance counties. Information about Nancy Jenkins has been
posted on Facebook.

Even so, Moore received just one tip, and it didn’t lead anywhere, he said.

“We haven’t received any leads as of yet,” Moore said. “That’s what’s making it so difficult. … We have no information.”

Remains Of Nancy Twyman Jenkins Found On New Year's Eve

Guilford County, NC-- Sheriff deputies have confirmed that remains
found on New Year's eve belong to a woman reported missing in May 2012.

Wednesday, Sheriff BJ Barnes said the North Carolina Office of the
Chief Medical Examiner confirmed the remains found in a wooded area on
Turner Smith Road on December 31, 2012 are that of Nancy Twyman Jenkins.

Sheriff Barnes said Jenkins was reported missing on May 31, 2012 by her family.

The cause of death is pending a complete autopsy and the investigation is continuing.
