DAYTONA BEACH -- Casey Anthony's appeal on her four convictions of lying to law enforcement could be decided before the end of the year.
However, there is also the possibility that a three judge appellate panel could not rule until after Anthony's civil trial.
Attorneys Cheney Mason and Lisabeth Fryer filed Anthony's appeal on June 11.
The Florida Attorney General's Office will argue the appeal. Attorneys with that office have until July 6 to respond to Anthony's appellate brief.
Anthony's attorneys then have until July 31 to respond to that brief.
Fifth District Court of Appeals spokeswoman Joanne Simmons said at that point, it will likely take at least eight weeks before oral arguments would be scheduled in front of a panel of three justices.
Simmons said cameras are allowed in the courtroom and television networks have already requested permission to televise the proceedings.
Anthony is not required to attend.
Justices with the 5th Circuit Appeals Court never rule from the bench, according to Simmons. She said, potentially, they could issue their decision within 24 hours after oral arguments. There is no time limit on the justices to decide, but Simmons said a decision would be very likely within 180 days.
Anthony's civil trial is scheduled to begin in Orange County court on Jan. 2, 2013. She has claimed a Fifth Amendment privilege against being deposed by opposing counsel in the case because of the active criminal appeal
