Police: Man pushes woman, baby out of third-floor window

Authorities say they have arrested the man accused of attacking his ex-girlfriend at her Jersey City home and forcing her out a third-floor window while she was holding her infant in her arms Friday morning.
The Hudson County prosecutor's office said police apprehended Frederico Bruno, 19, in Belleville, N.J. Friday evening. He was found inside a refrigerator in a vacant building near where his siblings live.
Bruno's family members said he went to their home after the alleged attack and slept for most of the day. When he woke up, he told his teenage niece and nephews what had happened.
He claimed his ex-girlfriend was trying to stab him while holding their baby, family members told NBC 4 New York. That's when he pushed her and the child out the window and fled, they said.
Police say Bruno had a key to his ex-girlfriend's Jersey City apartment and had been hiding inside Friday morning, waiting for her to get home. When she returned with her baby, who is also the suspect's child, and a friend, Bruno allegedly attacked her.
Both the 20-year-old mother and the 3-month-old baby are hospitalized in critical condition, police said.
The 21-year-old friend threatened to call 911 and Bruno allegedly turned on her, slicing her up with a household cutting device and leaving her for dead, police said. Then he ran down the fire escape and, with a table, continued to assault the mother of his child, who was lying on the ground on top of her baby after the two plunged three stories out the window, police said.
"I know he's always had a bad temper but I never thought he could do this," said Bruno's niece, 17-year-old Ahsley Archelus. "To a baby? How could he do this to his own baby?"

The friend is in surgery at a nearby hospital. She's listed in critical condition.
Police cordoned off the area surrounding the four-story building on Rutgers Avenue as they searched for Bruno, whom they called armed and dangerous.
The mother of the child had an order of protection against him, authorities said.
Bruno is facing three counts of aggravated assault charges. Bail was set at $300,000 for each count. It wasn't clear if he had an attorney.

I hope this POS Frederico Bruno is locked away for a long time and that his relatives don't believe his idiotic story. I also hope the mother, baby and friend make it as they are in critical condition.

Accused killer of 3-month-old son makes first appearance on charge of felony murder charge in Jersey City

A Jersey City man charged with killing his 3-month-old son by pushing him out a third-story window while in his mother’s arms made his first court appearance on the charge of felony murder yesterday.
Frederico Bruno, 19, is charged with the homicide of Damien Bruno whom suffered blunt force trauma and broken bones as a result of his July 27 fall from the window into a Rutgers Avenue backyard.
The attack also left Bruno’s 20-year-old ex-girlfriend and her 21-year-old female friend stabbed and in critical condition.
Bruno is charged with the attempted murder of both women and the felony murder charge was added after Damien’s July 31 death. The ex-girlfriend remains hospitalized in stable condition and
her friend was released from the hospital a few days after the attack. Damien was buried Monday.
Bruno appeared in the Jersey City courtroom yesterday via a videolink with the Hudson County jail in Kearny.
Bruno remained impassive as Judge Richard Nieto informed him of the new felony murder charge.
When Nieto told him his bail had been increased from $500,000 cash-only to $1 million cash-only, Bruno picked up a phone in his booth at the jail to speak to his public defender inside Central Judicial Processing Court in Jersey City.
With the mute button on the phone in the courtroom not pressed, Bruno could be heard protesting that he had not gotten to make a phone call.
The screen showing Bruno briefly went dark. Bruno was in the process of giving the public defender a phone number when the mute function kicked in.
According to authorities, Bruno and his ex-girlfriend had already broken up when he let himself into the apartment on July 27 and hid himself, police said.
When the mother of his child, her female friend and the baby returned around 6:30 a.m., Bruno stabbed the friend in the face and body with a meat cleaver and stabbed his ex-girlfriend in the neck, police said.
Bruno then shoved the mother and child with such force that an air conditioner, the woman and baby were propelled through the window, police said. Bruno descended to the backyard and beat the woman with a piece of furniture before fleeing, police said.
A tip from a family member led to Bruno’s arrest after he was found hiding in a refrigerator in a vacant Belleville apartment, police said.

Hearing postponed for Jersey City man police say pushed baby and ex-girlfriend who fell from third-floor window

A hearing was canceled Tuesday after officials failed to produce the Jersey City man charged with killing his 3-month-old son by pushing him out a third-story window while in his mother's arms.
But the woman's mother had strong words for him afterward.
"As far as I'm concerned, he can rot in hell," said Haydee Morales of Frederico Bruno, 19, who is charged with killing Damien Bruno, who suffered trauma including broken bones after falling into a Rutgers Avenue yard on July 27.
The attack also left Frederico Bruno's 20-year-old ex-girlfriend, Morales' daughter, and the girlfriend's 21-year-old female friend in critical condition with multiple stab wounds. Bruno is charged with the attempted murder of both women and the felony murder charge was added after Damien's July 31 death.
The ex-girlfriend's attorney, Evelyn Padin, said Tuesday's hearing was related to a temporary restraining order the 20-year-old was granted on July 21 to keep Bruno away from her. Although Bruno's bail was set at $1 million and he remains behind bars, Padin said he has a right to a final hearing on making the TRO permanent.
Hudson County Superior Court Judge Mark Baber said Bruno is being held in the Mercer County jail and officials mistakenly sent the order for him to be produced in court to the Hudson County jail in Kearny. Baber rescheduled the hearing for Jan. 4 at 9 a.m.
"I can't see Judge Baber not granting the restraining order," said Padin. "This is a shocking. This is the face of domestic violence."
Padin's client had scars on her face when she appeared at the hearing and the attorney said she suffered brain damage and has limited mobility in her hands due to stab wounds suffered while trying to defend herself.
