UNNAMED NEWBORN BOY - at birth - Portsmouth VA
Man haunted by bloodied face of baby he saved
Justin Goldfarb saw a woman drop a bag, with the baby in it, by the Maryview Hospital entrance in Portsmouth, Va. He says of what he found, ‘I dreamt about it a couple nights in a row and I hope I don’t dream about it tonight. I’m going to remember that when I’m old and in a wheelchair.’

Justin Goldfarb cannot forget the shocking moment he found the bleeding baby.
A bloodied baby’s face stuffed in the bottom of a garbage bag: that image could haunt one Virginian for the rest of his days.
“I dreamt about it a couple nights in a row and I hope I don’t dream about it tonight. I’m going to remember that when I’m old and in a wheelchair,” said Justin Goldfarb, who has tried to shake the horrific sight from his head to no avail.
Goldfarb saw the injured baby boy about 8 p.m. on Saturday when he was walking outside Maryview Hospital in Portsmouth, Va. He allegedly watched an unidentified woman drop a bag off near the hospital’s front entrance.
The woman reportedly called out to Goldfarb, telling him to carry the bag to medical staff, before speeding off in a BMW Sedan.
“She was nervous, she was scratching her arms and forearms,” he said.
An unidentified woman allegedly abandoned the injured newborn outside the entrance to a Portsmouth, Va. hospital before driving off.
Goldfarb, still unaware of the bag’s contents, alerted a nurse, who came outside and picked the bag up, reported local CBS-affiliate WTKR.
They could clearly make out the face of a newborn child inside the bag, which was dripping with blood.
“[You] could see the baby’s face in the bottom of the bag bleeding,” Goldfarb said.
The baby boy, who was cold to the touch, was taken inside to receive medical attention. The child is steadily recovering and could be released in a few days, according to medical staff, according to WTKR.
Goldfarb – still coming to terms with the experience – wonders how anyone could abandon an injured baby like that.
“I’m not sure why people would do that when she could just take it in to the hospital instead of just dropping it off at the front door and expecting somebody else to take it in,” he said.
