Man accused of abandoning child in van, beating woman with pistol

As a FDLE agent walked up
to a van, which was wanted in an Amber Alert, in the parking lot of a
West Boca church, the agent found the small child, alone, possibly for
hours in his car seat, reports the South Florida Sun-Sentinel.

A woman told Florida Highway Patrol
troopers that her ordeal began when Christopher P. Calvera, 36, of
Sevierville, Tenn., got into a shouting match with her as they drove
from Broward County
to Tennessee via I-95 and pulled out a semi-automatic handgun and
pistol whipped the woman in the back of her head, threatening to kill
her, according to an FHP report.

The woman grabbed the gun and
threw it out the van's window, enraging Calvera, both a convicted felon
and a convicted sex offender, according to the report.


When she tried to escape with the child, he reportedly beat her and slammed the car door over and over on her arm.
He also allegedly told her "Your mother was right. I'm the one who's going to kill you."

Finally Calvera took off in the van -- along with the child --and left the woman standing, the report stated.

Deputies tracked down Calvera, who they found in the Fulton County Jail in Georgia.

Let's hope this woman listens to her mama the next time she finds a boyfriend.
