Registered sex offender and career con artist, 47, accused of impregnating 12-year-old girl

Joseph Anthony Caracciolo has been is charged with traveling in interstate commerce for the purpose of engaging in illicit sexual conduct with a minor. He faces up to 30 years in prison if convicted.
Authorities say the 47-year-old Caracciolo was arrested August 28 after traveling between New Jersey, New York and Pennsylvania to sexually assault the underage mother of his baby, who is now 13.

The girl told authorities that Carraciolo - who used the names Joseph Crillo or Joseph Grillo - repeatedly had sex with her between May and August of 2012, resulting in a pregnancy.
On Tuesday, the high school dropout and ex-convict appeared at U.S. District Court in Camden, New Jersey, where Assistant U.S. Attorney Justin Danilewitz described Caracciolo as a serial predator and con man who has been preying on women since the 1990s, the Philadelphia Inquirer reported. .
According to investigators, Caracciolo, who was a gambler, created a series of fake identities, presenting himself as a restaurant chef, a pediatric dentist, an entrepreneur, a salesman and an electrician’s assistant.
Caracciolo also is alleged to have lied about being a cancer patient, and even got a tattoo displaying a cancer ribbon with boxing gloves. His other body art includes the words ‘Top Chef’ below a toque.
The federal investigation that eventually led to Caracciolo's arrest got under way last month when the FBI learned from the Egg Harbor Township Police Department about a local resident, aged 13, who was impregnated by an older man.

The girl told police that Caracciolo, whom she had identified from a photo lineup, traveled from New York to her father's house in Egg Harbor Township , New Jersey, to have sex with her.
The registered sex offender and his victim also made trips to the Pocono Mountains, where the two had intercourse, according to the teen.
At some point during their tryst, the 12-year-old became pregnant and gave birth to a baby girl this past April.

During one of their chats, the 47-year-old suspect acknowledged his paternity of the teenager's baby, whom he called 'my daughter' and 'our child.'
On August 13, Caracciolo sent his teenager lover a text that read: ' 'I really miss you so much...and I want to hold my baby so bad.'

About 10 days later, police recorded a phone conversation between the couple in which the suspect made numerous references to his affair with the minor and their baby.
At one point, the transcript of the call attached to the criminal complaint shows that the 47-year-old told his teenage lover that if a man he believed to be her new boyfriend came near the infant, he would 'kill him.'
The conversation concluded amicably, with the paramours professing their love to one another and agreeing to continue exchanging text messages.
Just day later, at around 11am on August 28, Caracciolo was arrested and booked into a jail on $300,000 bail.
The 47-year-old has a long criminal history, including convictions of bigamy, failure to register as a sex offender and larceny.
According to old newspaper articles, his inaugural arrest came on his 18th birthday, when Caracciolo was picked up on a weapons charge. He was later charged with pretending to be a police officer to force a woman to have sex with him.
Police say Caracciolo, who has another daughter and son from two different women, walked down the aisle with his second wife while still being married to the first.
The Press of Atlantic City reported that in 1995, he was sentenced to a year in jail in Virginia for stealing jewelery, a car and other possessions from his new spouse.
Over the years, he has lived in New Jersey, Massachusetts, Virginia, California, Connecticut, Florida and New York, using the aliases Joe Crillo, Joe Grillo and Tony Gallardo.
Investigators believe that there may be other victims out there, and they are hoping the women would come forward.

She's lucky to be alive. Perp's like this don't leave their victims alive. Having babies at that young age can also cause problems. I recently read about a young girl under 12 in another country died after being in labor for three days. They did not know about c-sections and she was too young. Forced marriage of course. This girl needs more control for sure.

Prosecutor: Court for man who impregnated NJ girl
CAMDEN, N.J. — Federal prosecutors say a registered sex offender who allegedly impregnated a 12-year-old southern New Jersey girl is due to make his first court appearance.
Joseph Anthony Caracciolo is charged with traveling in interstate commerce for the purpose of engaging in illicit sexual conduct with a minor.
He was due to appear Friday afternoon in U.S. District Court in Camden, and faces up to 30 years in prison if convicted. Authorities say the 47-year-old Caracciolo was arrested Aug. 28 in New York City. They claim he traveled between New Jersey, New York and Pennsylvania to sexually assault the victim, who is now 13. She gave birth to a child in April.
Prosecutors say Carraciolo — who also used the names Joseph Crillo or Joseph Grillo — may have had more victims.

More charges for man accused of impregnating girl
MAYS LANDING, N.J. — A registered sex offender who allegedly impregnated a 12-year-old southern New Jersey girl is now facing more charges.
Joseph Anthony Caracciolo, whose most recent address was in New York City, faces aggravated sexual assault and child endangerment charges in an indictment handed up this week by an Atlantic County grand jury. If convicted, he could face up to 25 years in prison.
The indictment comes just weeks after federal prosecutors said the 47-year-old Caracciolo would be charged with traveling in interstate commerce for the purpose of illicit sex with a minor. That case is pending.
Caracciolo was arrested Aug. 28 in New York City. He allegedly traveled between New Jersey, New York and Pennsylvania to sexually assault the victim, who is now 13.
