Ocala man accused of trying to recruit girl into prostitution

A Marion County man is under arrest after deputies said he tried to recruit an underage girl into prostitution.

The Marion County Sheriff’s Office said Bruce Mizell Robinson, 42, of Ocala, spoke to a juvenile about recruiting girls to go to hotels and have sex with men for cash. According to the arrest affidavit, the victim told Robinson she was not interested and when she tried to call for help, Robinson “became forceful.”

Robinson, who is a registered sex offender, was arrested for sexual battery and transported to the Marion County Jail.

Marion County Detectives are asking anyone who knows of any contact Robinson had with children to call (352) 369-6845.

Registered sex offender charged with sexual battery

OCALA - A 42-year-old registered sex offender was arrested Friday for sexual battery on a 15-year-old girl.

According to sheriff's officials, the received a report in late October that Bruce M. Robinson forced himself on the teenager, despite the girl telling him no.

The girl told officials at Kimberly's Center for Child Protection that Robinson told her he recruits girls to go to hotels and have sex with men for cash. She said that after they talked, Robinson began messing with her and forcefully had sex with her.

Robinson was found and taken to the Marion County Sheriff's Office for an interview with detective Rhonda Stroup. He declined to speak with the detective and was subsequently arrested.

State records indicate Robinson has served time in prison for sexual battery and failure to comply with sex offender requirements. He was released in March 2010. He is listed as a sexual offender.
