Man charged in death of pregnant 16-year-old

JEFFERSON, Ga. —
Authorities say they've charged a 34-year-old man with murder and feticide in the killing of a pregnant 16-year-old girl in Jefferson.
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation said Friday that Jonathan Michael Smith has been charged in the slaying of Cheyanne Hair.
The GBI says Hair died Wednesday at Athens Regional Medical Center. She was taken to the hospital after authorities responded to a home following a 911 call requesting medical services. The GBI says Smith and Hair lived together at the home.
The GBI and the Jackson County Sheriff's Office have arrest warrants for Smith, who is in the county jail on unrelated charges. It wasn't known late Friday whether he has an attorney.
