Nidia Yolibeth Alvarado has been charged with capital murder and is being held on $2 million bail.
The mother of a newborn boy told police she watched him die and heard him cry as she strangled away the last bit of his life.
Nidia Yolibeth Alvarado, 25, tossed the dead baby in a blue duffel bag and abandoned it in a dumpster where a Waste Management employee found it Dec. 23, authorities said.
Hospital staff where Alvarado gave birth under a fake name on Dec. 20 helped authorities link her to the murder, and she was arrested Tuesday night, reported local station KWTX.

The 25-year-old mother did not want to be pregnant, police say, and had asked a friend how to give herself an abortion.
She was charged with capital murder and is being held on $2 million bail, the San Antonio Police Department said.
"The defendant said she contacted an unknown individual, and she killed the baby by wrapping a ligature around the baby's neck," a detective wrote in the arrest report, obtained by San Antonio Express. "(Alvarado) stated she saw the baby was crying and she then saw it die."
The Texas newspaper said Alvarado did not want to be pregnant and even asked a friend if she knew how to perform a self-induced abortion.

Police traced the newborn from the Waste Management site back to Nidia Yolibeth Alvarado, who gave birth Dec. 20 under a fake name.
Alvarado told a male and a female relative about the pregnancy when she asked them to drive her to the hospital, police said.
Surveillance footage shows her leaving the hospital in a wheelchair with the newborn in her arms on Dec. 22, according to the arrest report.
Mary Walker, a Child Protective Services spokeswoman, told San Antonio Express that Alvarado is the mother of two other children,

SAN ANTONIO — An infant found dead at an East Side recycling plant in December is still awaiting a proper burial.
Pamela Allen, a child advocate who has struggled to provide funeral services for the boy she affectionately calls Baby Noel, says her efforts have hit a snag.
Shortly after the arrest of the child's mother Nidia Alvarado, 25, on Jan. 14, who police say strangled the infant shortly after its birth, Allen hoped she would be able to obtain rights necessary to bury the child.
Allen said Alvarado did sign her rights over to Allen at a meeting at the Bexar County Jail earlier in the month.
Allen, however, said authorities will not release the body without consent of the biological father, who has yet to be identified.
“The thing that has been very noticeable in the case is the mother's detachment from the baby,” Allen said.
“We don't know if the father ever will be identified,” Allen said. “The bottom line is that there is still a little boy that needs to be buried.”

Cops found the disturbing scene of dismembered newborn baby in a Washington, D.C., apartment after the downstairs neighbors complained of bloody water dripping from the ceiling.
The baby’s mother, Lillian Alvarado, 21, was charged with first-degree murder and cruelty to children on Thursday, months after police stumbled upon the shocking crime in northwest Washington.
The city’s medical examiner only just ruled the baby’s death a murder by dismemberment and asphyxiation, according to the Washington Post.
But it was Nov. 28 when cops responded to 14 St. for the report of leaking water. Officers entered the bathroom after Alvarado walked out and found the dead baby, with umbilical cord still attached, lying in an inch of blood and water in the bathtub. Cops found a pair of scissors in the sink, the Post reported.
The young mother and accused killer refused to answer police questions as her younger teen brother urged officers to hospitalize the woman.
It wasn’t until Thursday the medical examiner determined the baby died after it was born.
Five children total, aged 4 and under, were killed in “domestic incidents” in D.C. last year, the Post reported.

How can these women do this? I wonder if they are related. As has been said - so many loving people would have so happily welcomed these little angels into their homes and hearts. It is incomprehensible when a baby can be safely left at fire departments, hospitals, many churches...with no questions asked. Why???
