Music teacher admits to molesting 9-year-old girl for ‘sexual pleasure’
Ilya Lehman, former owner of The Early Ear, copped to a single count of forcible sexual conduct against a child in the second degree in exchange for two years in prison plus five years of post-release supervision.

New York music teacher Ilya Lehman, center, appeared in Manhattan Supreme Court on Tuesday and pled guilty to sexually abusing a 9-year-old girl, one of his students, for two years. He was sentenced to two years in jail and five years of post-release supervision.
A former Manhattan music school teacher who owned a chain of schools for young children pleaded guilty Tuesday to molesting a 9-year-old student for "sexual pleasure."
Ilya Lehman, former owner of The Early Ear, copped to a single count of forcible sexual conduct against a child in the second degree in exchange for two years in prison plus five years of post-release supervision.
Lehman, who will be sentenced Feb. 25, originally faced up to 7 years in prison on the top count.

Lehman, 70, was grilled with questions about the abuse of the girl, which occurred at least twice while he was giving her lessons, during the plea proceeding. He said the abuse including groping the young victim and forcing her to touch his genitals.
The teacher admitted to two acts but prosecutors have said the abuse happened at least ten times between September 2011 and April 2013.
During a line of questioning from Manhattan Supreme Court Justice Jill Konviser, Lehman balked before admitting what he did.

"You did this for your own satisfaction and pleasure?" Konviser said.
When he paused and denied it, the visibly irritated judge questioned his initial claim that he wasn't enjoying the abuse.
"Was it to make her a better piano player?" Konvsier posed, before grilling him again about his intentions.

As a piece of paper in his hands shook and after moments of hesitation, Lehman said through a Russian interpreter that "yes" the disturbing acts were for his enjoyment.
Lehman wouldn't comment while leaving the courtroom as he was rushed into a stairwell.
"Mr. Lehman himself does not understand how it came about that he engaged in this behavior and he is deeply, deeply remorseful," said his lawyer Raymond Granger.
According to Granger, Lehman sold the chain of schools, which has two locations on the upper West Side and another on the upper East Side.

This evil POS has left many, many victims in his wake.
His sentence is a joke, especially considering the judge knew about many of his other victims. In Florida there is a mandatory minimum sentence of 25 years for molesting a child this age.
