Man accused of throwing child against a wall

A 2 1/2-year-old boy was severely injured in Daytona Beach after his mother's boyfriend threw him against a wall when the boy would not go to bed, a report says.

Benjamin Edward Ahr, 34, was arrested and charged with aggravated child abuse, Daytona Beach police said today.

Rescue workers were called to a residence in Daytona Beach at about 10:50 p.m. Wednesday after getting a report of a child having seizures.

The boy, whose name was not released, suffered numerous injuries and was on a breathing machine at Palmer Hospital for Children in Orlando.

The mother was at work and the boyfriend was watching the boys, the report said.

Ahr denied hurting the boy. He told authorities the boy and his older brother were "rough housing" in their beds before bedtime and that's how the 2 1/2-year-old boy was hurt.

On Thursday, authorities interviewed the older brother, who said Ahr came into their room several times after putting the boys to bed because they were playing with their toys and getting loud.

At one point, Ahr came in and got upset when the younger boy said, "No," when Ahr told him to go to sleep.

He picked up the boy over his head and "threw him against the wall'' according to a report. The older boy said Ahr hurt him in the past.

Hospital releases child who was thrown at wall

PORT ORANGE -- A toddler who was thrown against a wall earlier this month has been released from an Orlando hospital.

Daytona Beach Police Chief Mike Chitwood said the 2 1/2-year-old boy is "fine." The child was reportedly thrown against the wall in early March. He fractured his skull and suffered bruises.

Authorities have charged Benjamin E. Ahr with aggravated child abuse in connection to the incident. He was being held in the Volusia County Branch Jail on $50,000 bail. It's unclear if he has an attorney.

Investigators believe the boy was roughhousing with his brother, which angered Ahr.

Cops catch suspected bank robber in jail

Port Orange police today announced they found a man suspected of robbing a bank on Christmas Eve. Benjamin Ahr, 36, was being held in the Volusia County Branch Jail when he was charged with armed robbery and grand theft, Port Orange Police said.

Ahr is accused of robbing the TD Bank at 1101 Dunlawton Ave. on Saturday. Ahr was being held at the jail on an unrelated warrant when he was charged with the Port Orange crime. His bond was set at $7,000 for the TD Bank robbery.

Christmas Eve Bank Robber Facing up to 20 Years in Federal Prison

Orlando, Florida - United States Attorney Robert E. O'Neill announces that Benjamin Edward Ahr (37, Port Orange) pleaded guilty today to the robbery of a Volusia County branch of TD Bank. Ahr faces a maximum penalty of 20 years in federal prison. A sentencing hearing has been scheduled for July 18, 2012, before Senior United States District Court Judge G. Kendall Sharp.

According to the plea agreement, on December 24, 2011, Ahr entered the branch of TD Bank located at 1101 Dunlawton Avenue, in Port Orange. Ahr demanded money and said, "I have a gun and I will use it!" Ahr obtained a total of $1,635.00, before fleeing the building and driving away.

On December 27, 2011, during a separate robbery of a Space Coast Credit Union in Ormond Beach, a witness observed a vehicle with the Florida vanity plate "AHR TURN" speeding away from the scene. The vehicle was registered to Ahr.

Detectives from the Port Orange and Ormond Beach Police Departments determined that Ahr had a strong physical resemblance to the images of the individual captured on bank security cameras during the robbery of TD Bank, on December 24, 2011. When victims from the TD Bank robbery were shown a photo line-up containing Ahr’s picture, they positively identified him as the bank robber.

On December 28, 2011, authorities arrested Ahr for the bank robbery. He admitted to robbing the TD Bank on December 24, 2011 and positively identified himself as the person in the bank surveillance photographs.

This case was investigated by the City of Port Orange Police Department, the Ormond Beach Police Department and the FBI. It is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Robert E. Bodnar, Jr.

Why did this POS mother allow a career criminal to live with her and put her baby at risk? 

Why wasn't the POS mother arrested and charged?  She's a neglectful, unfit mother.

Isn't it obvious? The guy is a hunka burning love...NOT! She should have known better ON SIGHT.

I would throw up if he even spoke to me. 

This POS mother needs to be in prison.  She certainly doesn't need to have children under her care.
