Penn. mom puts booze in baby's sippy cup

ERIE, Pa. (NBC) - One month after an a one-year-old Pennsylvania baby was brought to the hospital with an elevated blood alcohol level, that child's mother is in trouble with the law.
Erie police charged 26-year-old Jessica Bachmaier with endangering the welfare of a child, along with reckless endangerment, and furnishing alcohol to a minor - all misdemeanors.
Police said Bachmaier was the only person who provided the baby with anything to eat or drink before taking her to the hospital. According to the criminal complaint, detectives allege she knowingly furnished liquor to her baby.
Bachmaier claimed she fed the baby a bottle with what she thought was a mixture of water and formula, but it turned out to be vodka. The baby was hospitalized with a blood alcohol content of .289. She said a male friend was babysitting while she was at work.
The male friend will not be charged, police said.
