Deputies: Child tied to door, left alone in home with sibling

ORLANDO, Fla. —Orange County Sheriff's Office deputies found two children left home alone on Tuesday.



One of the children was tied to the sliding glass door with a belt, according to the arrest report for Neftaldry Escarment, 24, of Haiti.

A Rent-A-Center employee visited the Orange County home to discuss an account with someone there when he discovered the children playing in the fenced-in backyard, the report said.

The employee notified deputies, who found the children alone with full diapers smelling of urine, according to the report.

Deputies wrote in the report that the older child "had what appeared to be two belts tied together with one end tied to [a] left ankle and the other end tied to the inside handle to the sliding glass door."

Deputies noted the older child's "ankles, which had dark circles around both of them, as if something had been consistently wrapped around them," the report said.

While deputies waited for someone to return home one of the children "obtained a bottle of Scrubbing Bubbles Heavy Duty cleaner and was spraying it towards" a deputy, investigators wrote in their report.

Both children were removed from the home by Florida Department of Children and Families officials.

Escarment was charged with child neglect and booked into the Orange County Jail.
