Brooklyn Tech High School math and physics teacher Sean Shaynak was disturbingly close to some of his students.
He is the vilest pervert teacher New York has ever seen.
A sex-crazed Brooklyn educator had intercourse with several female students, took them to sex clubs and nude beaches and handed out straight A’s to a girl he was sleeping with, prosecutors said Tuesday.
The debauchery of Sean Shaynak, 44, came to light after the math and physics teacher at Brooklyn Technical High School was charged in August with sending a picture of his private parts to a 16-year-old student.
But that was only the beginning of the lurid misdeeds prosecutors accuse the divorced father of a 9-year-old daughter of carrying out. They include:
“It is shocking that a public high school teacher allegedly sexually preyed on vulnerable students,” Brooklyn District Attorney Kenneth Thompson said in a statement.
The criminal conduct started in the fall of 2012 and continued through this summer, court papers say.
The teacher is facing 25 years in prison for the top charge in a 36-count indictment that accuses him of kidnapping, criminal sex act and other crimes — including obscenity, forcible touching and unlawful imprisonment — against a total of six girls, ages 13 to 19.
New York Daily News
He’s looking at a much longer potential penalty due to the multiple alleged incidents.
Shaynak, of Flatbush, has been teaching for five years at the Fort Greene high school attended by Mayor de Blasio’s son Dante, although a student told The News that the famous student did not take classes with him.
Reactions at the school ranged from shocked to not surprised.
“Some people were aware of it. They said that they saw it coming, that he was a perv — the way he looked at girls,” said Tangina Ahmed, 16, a junior at the school. “I find that really gross.“
Others were taken aback by the allegations against the amateur pilot who used to work as a flight instructor before becoming a teacher and ran an aerospace after-school club.
The school’s principal, Randy Asher, did not respond to a request for comment.

Defense lawyer Kimberly Summers pleaded not guilty on Shaynak’s behalf when he was arraigned in Brooklyn Supreme Court.
“My client maintains his innocence on all these charges,” she told the judge.
She claimed that one student “was working on a project with him, which would explain the voluminous text messages,” and noted that he has a 9-year-old girl, which would give him incentive to return to court.
The teacher’s bail was set at $1 million.
His brother is Hollywood actor Craig Shaynak, who has a recurring role in the Showtime TV drama “Ray Donovan” and has appeared in various other TV shows and on stage.
Craig Shaynak declined to comment. The defendant’s sister also declined to speak.

Shaynak was initially charged with sending the full-frontal photo via the picture-sharing app Snapchat. A search warrant then unearthed a trove of incriminating evidence, sources said.
“These alleged actions are completely unacceptable and have no place in, or outside of, our schools,” said Department of Education spokeswoman Devora Kaye. “He is not, and will not be, in contact with students. Student safety remains our top priority.”
Shaynak had been previously assigned to the rubber room, and he continues to collect a $52,744-a-year salary.
“The details of this case are beyond words,” said Campbell Brown, founder of the Partnership for Educational Justice, who is leading efforts to make it easier for the city to remove ineffective and dangerous teachers.
“The fact that our system continues to pay and even protect these predators — with many parents having no idea that their children are in danger — defies common sense.”

But that was only the beginning of the lurid misdeeds prosecutors accuse the divorced father of a 9-year-old daughter of carrying out. They include:
- Taking a 15-year-old to a nude beach in New Jersey without permission and plying her with vodka, tequila and whisky until she passed out at his home.
- Exchanging some 10,000 text messages with that same girl, in which he asked her to participate in lesbian sex with another student and told her about his experience with a ménage-à-trois and gay sex.
- Giving another student perfect grades “regardless of the fact she did not do any assignments and left tests blank,” said prosecutor Joseph Mancino.
- Forcing himself on that 18-year-old student when she resisted his attempt at intercourse.
- Carrying on a “four-month sexual relationship” with yet another teen, which included a trip to an out-of-state gay-themed sex club where she watched him getting “serviced” by other men.
- Taking that student on what prosecutors described as a “terror ride” from Queens to Brooklyn that ended with her hiding in the bushes and her teacher screaming and banging on his car. “He threatened to tell her parents,” Mancino said.
- Sending full-frontal photos to four students, two of whom were minors.
- Storing an extensive library of pornography in his computer, which included bestiality — sex acts between humans and dogs, horses and goats.
“It is shocking that a public high school teacher allegedly sexually preyed on vulnerable students,” Brooklyn District Attorney Kenneth Thompson said in a statement.

Someone had to know

Alleged serial sexual predator Sean Shaynak is accused of taking a teen girl to a nude beach, exchanging 10,000 text messages with her and asking her to participate in sex acts. And that's not all.
.
Administrators at Brooklyn Tech hired a monster when they added alleged serial sexual predator Sean Shaynak to the school’s faculty — despite an earlier accusation in court that he had severely beaten an 11-year-old neighbor.
While Shaynak is prosecuted on a long list of felony charges, the city’s special schools investigator must examine who in Brooklyn Tech’s adult community saw, or failed to see, warning signs that he wasn’t fit to be around students.
Someone had to know — and whoever knew must be fired. So, too, all of those who facilitated Shaynak’s predations by allowing Brooklyn Tech to become fertile ground.
Shaynak secured a job at Tech, one of the city’s most prestigious high schools, in 2009 even though he had no experience as a teacher and none of the normal credentials.
The questions start there: How? Why? A background check disclosed that Shaynak had previously been arrested for an assault in Maryland, where he and the 11-year-old lived across the street from one another, but the charge had been dismissed.
The Department of Education admits to knowing only that the case had to do with a neighbor. Apparently there was no further investigation, because the school system was oblivious to the facts that the accuser was but a child, that his mother secured a restraining order against Shaynak and that her petition alleged Shaynak had given the boy a black eye.
Given a position of trust, Shaynak methodically and relentlessly forged sexual relationships with teenage girls, according to Brooklyn District Attorney Kenneth Thompson.
Over the course of three years, Shaynak is named as having had sex with or otherwise abusing a half-dozen students, taking one to a nude beach and getting her drunk; exchanging 10,000 text messages with the girl; asking her to participate in lesbian sex and telling her about threesomes and gay sex.
Plus, bringing another student to an out-of-state sex club, where she watched him engage in sex acts with men, and later taking her on a “terror ride” that ended with her hiding in bushes while he screamed, banged on his car and threatened to tell her parents.
Plus, sending frontal photographs to four students, and grooming students for such activities by providing alcohol and cigarettes.
Plus, marking a girl’s quizzes 100% although she had left answers blank, and forcing himself on her when she resisted intercourse.
And no Tech adult had any inkling? Please.
Shaynak’s slitherings were so brazen and long-running that someone at the school must have had some hint he was a grotesque victimizer.
Teenage girls talk. It defies belief that one did not tell another and tell another about sexual experiences with an adult, a teacher no less.
When those adolescents talked, texted or Twittered, adults in the school community should have picked up signs something was very wrong. No?

As for Shaynak’s overt actions in school, did no one on the faculty see that he had an unusual predilection for getting close to female students?
In fact, he was not all that cunning. He was done in by sending a photograph of his private parts to a girl using a cell phone app that quickly deletes images. She took a photo of it, told an adult and Shaynak was busted.
Therein are more questions for Special Schools Investigation Commissioner Richard Condon. Why did no other students, including Shaynak’s victims, report him? Does Brooklyn Tech have a welcoming system that allows students to report suspicions in confidence?
While Chancellor Carmen Fariña and Principal Randy Asher foolishly dodged questions, Mayor de Blasio, himself the parent of a Brooklyn Tech student, declared that Shaynak will never again teach in the city schools.
Since Shaynak is classified as a probationary teacher, the department has begun streamlined proceedings to dump him, a move supported even by teachers union President Michael Mulgrew.
But banishing the monster is only the start. It is up to Condon to explain how Brooklyn Tech went so grotesquely off the rails, so that adults can be held fully accountable.
