Bail hearing set for Friday for wife, husband charged in DaKota Burke's death

MOBILE, Alabama -- A husband and wife who are charged in a 20-month old girl's death are set to make their first court appearance on Friday.
Summer Everett 22, and Chrisopher Knapp, 24, both of Semmes, were arrested Wednesday on murder charges in the Jan. 8 death of Everett's daughter, DaKota Burke. Everett and Knapp also are charged with aggravated child abuse.
Everett and Knapp, who married Monday, are being held without bond at the Mobile County Metro Jail. District Court Judge Bob Sherling will consider whether to set bail during Friday's hearing.
DaKota was taken to Providence Hospital on Dec. 31 after her mother found her unconsciousness in a bed at their Semmes home, the Mobile County Sheriff's Office said earlier this week in a statement.

When the child arrived at the hospital, she had bruises and burns on her body, the Sheriff's Office said.
DaKota was transferred to the University of South Alabama Medical Center on the same day that she was admitted to Providence. She died eight days later.
