Chicago grandmother charged with first-degree murder after cutting baby's throat with power saw.


Chicago woman Manuela Rodriguez was charged with first-degree murder Tuesday for the brutal death of her 7-month-old granddaughter Rose Herrera, whose throat was slashed post-mortem with a power saw.

Initial reports saidRodriguez, 52, killed the baby by cutting her throat with the saw to silence her crying Monday. But an autopsy Tuesday concluded the girl was killed by blunt force injuries, caused by multiple hits to the head, before the gruesome grandma allegedly sliced the baby’s throat.
