MYCAH JAMES - 12 yo - Stillwater OK
A man in a rusty red, two-door car abducted a 12-year-old girl from in front of her home on Wednesday, said police.
Authorities issued an Amber Alert after the abduction of Mycah Michelle James.
"We're treating it, most likely, as a legitimate stranger abduction.
It was witnessed by a younger sister," police Capt. Randy Dickerson
said. "There is nothing to lead us to believe that this is a joke. Just
have to play the cards we're dealt."
The girl is described as about 4 feet tall and 100 pounds. She has
short, curly, reddish-brown hair and was wearing blue and white shorts
and a black and white T-shirt with "The Nightmare Before Christmas"
written on it, Dickerson said.
The suspect is described as a white male in his 30s, with a thin
build and brown hair. Dickerson said he was wearing blue jeans and a
blue T-shirt.

LE: Mycah possibly a runaway
Police have canceled an Amber Alert issued earlier today for a
12-year-old girl reportedly taken from her house, according to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.
Police now believe Mycah Michelle James
is a runaway and was not actually taken by force by a man who
reportedly picked her up and carried her over his shoulder and then
placed her in the back of the car with the child screaming and crying
as he drove away.
The Amber Alert was issued about noon, after the girl’s
10-year-old sister called police with what investigators now believe
was a fabricated kidnapping story to cover for the suspected runaway.
It was not immediately clear whether the runaway has been found.

Mycah - FOUND SAFE; Sister admits hoax
The Oklahoma City Police Department located 12-year-old Mycah Michelle James in the 1800 block of Northwest 29th Street.
According to Oklahoma City Lieutenant Daniel Stewart, “It was not an abduction. It may have been a runaway situation.
“At 5:06 p.m., a family friend saw the news story and called police to
alert police that the girl was with family.” A unit was dispatched to
locate the James who was then returned to her mother, he said.
Stewart could not say to where the girl was taken to reunite with her mother. The family friend was not identified.
According to Stillwater Police Captain Randy Dickerson, at about 11:15 a.m.,
James’ 10-year-old sister told neighbors that her sister had been
abducted by a man in a red car. Police initially issued an Amber Alert
but later reclassified as a missing person when they determined the
abduction account was false.

A Stillwater girl has been found in Oklahoma City after Stillwater police canceled an Amber Alert for the runaway 12-year-old girl.
Mycah Michelle James was found at the home of a family friend Wednesday evening, Oklahoma City police Lt. Daniel Stewart said. The family friend, who lives in the 1800 block of NW 29, called police
after seeing media reports of James’ disappearance about 5 p.m., he
said.
Stewart said the incident appears to be a misunderstanding, and doesn’t anticipate any arrests.
Stillwater police confirmed the kidnapping story told by the girl’s sister was part of a plan to run away. The
Amber Alert was issued about noon Wednesday when an 8-year-old girl
told police a man picked up her big sister, carried her over his
shoulder and threw her in the back of a car while the girl was
screaming and crying for help.
Because of inconsistencies in the 8-year-old’s story and after exploring the 12-year-old’s MySpace
and other social networking sites, police said they now believe Mycah
Michelle James coerced her little sister into telling the abduction
story as a cover for her plan to run away from home.
“The whole story about the guy was made up,” Capt. Randy Dickerson said. “There was no guy.”
The missing girl’s MySpace profile, which lists her as 13 instead of
12, is marked private but shows someone logged onto the account
Wednesday morning before the alert was issued.
Dickerson said police are aware of the girl’s social networking
accounts and have access to them, but he said he was not ready to
discuss the content found on the sites.
