Detectives need your help locating a missing teenager from Indian River County area.

18-year-old
Eric Self was last seen by his family members around 10PM Sunday
evening on August 9th leaving his home. Eric attends Indian River State
College at the Mueller Center campus.He travels by way of the
'Go Line' transit system and is known to frequent Pocahontas Park and
the Library in downtown Vero Beach.Detective Stoll with the Indian River County Sheriff's Office says the disappearance seems 'suspicious'.If

Self is described as a white male teen, eighteen years of age. He is
5'10", weighs 140lbs, reddish/brown short hair, hazel eyes, with a
purple earring in his right earlobe.

A 18-year-old Indian River State College student remained missing
Thursday, three days after his parents said he disappeared, the Indian
River County Sheriff’s Office said.

Eric Self, who lives in the 8700 block of 20th Street in Vero Beach,
disappeared between 10 p.m. Sunday and 5 a.m. Monday, Detective Steve
Stoll said. His parents reported his disappearance to authorities
Monday night, Stoll said.

Self doesn’t drive and usually travels by foot or bus, authorities
said. Family members told detectives he had never run away from home
previously.

“He’s introverted and doesn’t have a lot of friends,” Stoll said.

A few people contacted the Sheriff’s Office with leads, but neither
of those panned out, Stoll said. Deputies searched the neighborhood
surrounding Self’s home with police dogs Wednesday, but found no sign
of him.

Self was absent from his class Tuesday at IRSC’s Mueller Campus in Vero Beach, Stoll said.

Self is 5-foot-10 and weighs 140 pounds, the Sheriff’s Office said.
He has reddish-brown short hair, hazel eyes and a purple earring in his
right earlobe, the Sheriff’s Office said.

Authorities said the 18-year-old Indian River State College student
who had been reported missing earlier this month was found walking
along Florida’s Turnpike in St. Lucie County on Wednesday.Eric
Self was found safe by the Florida Highway Patrol. However, he was
being held Thursday at the Juvenile Detention Center in St. Lucie
County on an outstanding warrant, authorities said. The Indian River
County Sheriff’s Office, which had led the search for Self for 10 days,
would not comment on the nature of the charge.FHP spokesman
Jorge Delahoz said a trooper on the turnpike saw Self walking near mile
marker 142 a few miles south of the Port St. Lucie exit. The trooper
stopped Self because it is illegal to walk on the turnpike, Delahoz
said. Self provided identification to the trooper, who discovered Self
had been reported missing, Delahoz said. The teen told the trooper he
was trying to hitchhike to Orlando.The Indian River County
Sheriff’s Office had done an extensive search of Self’s neighborhood
last week and looked for him at places he frequents, such as IRSC’s
Mueller Campus in Vero Beach, where Self was taking classes.Sheriff’s
spokesman Jeff Luther said Self’s parents reported him missing after he
left their home earlier this month. He was classified as endangered
because of suicide notes he had left behind, Luther said.However,
after leaving home, Self reconsidered killing himself and went to a
friend’s home in Stuart, said Detective Steve Stoll, who interviewed
Self after he was found. Self would not say who he was staying with,
Stoll said.“He didn’t want anyone to know where he was,” Stoll said. “He didn’t indicate whether he knew he had been reported as missing.”Self
said he was trying to reach another friend in Orlando when the trooper
stopped him, Stoll said. The Sheriff’s Office had been in touch
throughout the investigation with that person, who had told Stoll he
hadn’t heard from Self since the disappearance.
