BRIAN CHAVEZ - 15 yo / Special Needs - Albuquerque NM
The family of a missing Albuquerque teen are worried for both the 15-year-old boy and the public's safety. Brian Chavez, 15, is 6-foot-4, has brown hair and eyes and weighs about 250 pounds.
His family members said that Chavez has special needs. "He
can become very violent. What we're afraid of is that he's gonna hurt
somebody. He can kill somebody," the teen's grandmother Patsy Chavez
said. Chavez was living at the Desert Hills Resident Treatment
Facility at Coors and Sequoia NW for several years. But on Monday he
walked away from the facility. "I don't know exactly what
happened. He just walked out the kitchen door and never came back," the
teen's aunt Margaret Magoffe said. Family members said that police aren't doing enough, and they're on a mission to track Chavez down. Magoffe said Chavez has the mentality of a 3-year-old. "I think that five days is a long time for a child with this type of disability to be out loose," she said. If you see Brian Chavez or know where he is, the family asks that you don't approach him. Instead call 242-COPS.
